I wrote this jig while attending a tune composition workshop held in the Carrickmacross Workhouse as part of the local Arts Festival in 2017.  Originally I called it Accidentals in the Workhouse as it was the first time I'd ever written a tune with accidentals in it, something I wouldn’t have attempted prior to the workshop. Also one of the bands playing at the festival that year was Accidents in the Workplace, a Funk/Rock/Blues band, so Accidentals in the Workhouse seemed an appropriate title at the time. I've since shortened it to the Workhouse Jig.

One of my own compositions.  Dedicated to the memory of my friend Joe Crilly.  One of the most acclaimed of the plays which he wrote during his career was one called "On McQuillan's Hill".  Hence the title of this barndance.
