I wrote this as a poem first, while thinking about Colossians 1:17; the message that "in Christ all things hold together" really has some resonance during a pandemic. The vocals aren't super polished, but it seemed to fit for a live take of the song.

My first foray back into multi-track recording! I really liked Psalms 124 and 125, but they weren't clicking musically until I stole this riff from an older instrumental song of mine. I think it's pretty groovy.

I started the Psalms Project for a few reasons:
1. Songwriting is a great way to dwell on the words of Scripture
2. It's important to help people pray through the Psalms; music may be the most helpful way to do that. If I can help with that, so much the better
3. I really dislike a lot of popular contemporary worship music, and want to write something better. Ideally, some of these songs will not only be good for listening, but for singing corporately as well.

Psalms Project - Our Help Is In The Name Of The Lord (Psalms 124 and 125)

I first recorded this with just piano and voice, but later had the opportunity to do a version for an online chapel. This take is much closer to what I'd envisioned - a little funky and a little jazzy. Several months into COVID-19 times, the message of trusting God still applies.

Be Still And Know (Psalm 46)

I returned to writing music from the Psalms last week, and this one came together quickly. Psalm 13 is one of lament; though the transition from minor to major is exactly what one would expect of the lyrics, I thought the chords were still subtle and strange enough to make the mood interesting,
