Earlier this year Stainwasher debuted with her EP ‘What Did I See’ and took listeners on a sonic journey through her deepest fears and emotions. In late August she returns with a new stunning track.

With her debut EP she quickly rose to be one of the most promising experimental acts in Sweden with support from critics around the world. The lead single ‘Joy For Me’ was crowned as one of the best songs this year by Belgian tastemakers HighClouds and the accompanying video was praised for its mystical yet calming nature. “I never question if presenting my music to the world was a good idea anymore, the feedback makes it all worth it.” She says about the response.

‘Drying’ is a natural step forward in terms of sound for Stainwasher. The synths soars through the track and cut straight to the point while the vocal melodies are delicately playful. This new material is also a heartfelt effort to make sense of both the good and bad in the world for Stainwasher herself. “I think people like to place things in categories in order to be able to cope with the abundance of information they receive every day, and I am no exception. The search for some kind of context might be as fundamental as eating or sleeping, that’s why many people never get satisfied with anything, but at least they're alive.” She explains further.

The trick is to make a confession entertaining. A Private Picture, the debut album by Chicago’s Fran, delivers a collection of extremely personal experiences that have been distilled and abstracted to the point that you can see yourself in their imagery, find analogs to your own emotional history in their scenarios –when you hear them, it’s a conversation. It’s therapy, if therapy was allowed to turn you on and make you shake what you got. At its core, Fran’s music is about sharing a truth -–telling it, confessing it, yelling it—in the service of human connection. Or, as Jacobson puts it, “I feel that I am a songwriter for the same reason I wanted to be an actor. I want to tell the truth. I want to challenge myself to get closer and closer to the core of an experience, an emotion- I want to say it, sing it, in a way that says exactly what it is. I cry when I write songs because I am constantly making discoveries, about myself, about the world, about the best way to convey and connect and get closer.”

Here's what the band has to say on the track
"Reality State" takes its title from a long and winding conversation with a cab driver on my way to band practice about his previous life selling real estate in Dubai and all of the artifice that accompanied it - fake names, glamorous backstories, renting a Rolex for an hour to wear to the client meeting to help seal the deal.  Due to some sort of linguistic mix-up, he used the beautiful and compelling phrase "reality state" instead of "real estate" throughout his 23-minute Wild West tale.

This song is the older cousin of "New Reality" from Essentials and presents a different take on the cognitive dissonance of living in a world on fire.  "Reality State" is more concerned with personal dynamics - identity construction and performance, building and maintaining connection, and making space for worry about small and big things at the same time.  It's a snapshot of summer 2016-era simmering discomfort.   As we dive into writing more and more new material, we're releasing this remaining track from the 2017 Essentials sessions as a bookend or a final celebratory balloon.

Patio - Reality State

Shoppings storming lead single “Initiative”, taken from the forthcoming Album "All Or Nothing", was written in a Seattle basement. Like the album as a whole, the track thrums with purpose, marking a confident new phase for the band. Referencing governments who shirk responsibilities but place the blame on individuals, the song has a frustrated groove that’s propelling, motivated by necessity to keep going against the grain.
