The Hum comes eighteen months after the band's debut album Pearl Mystic - a record that steadily went on to become one of 2013's most impactful breakout statements. Even more ferocious and uncompromising than its predecessor and yet more melodic and focused than the band have ever recorded, The Hum further cements the band’s status as a vital force in British independent music.
Described by the band’s bassist MB as their attempt at “a really minimal two-note rager”, ‘On Leaving’ is six minutes of controlled power, the muscular drumming of new drummer JN gradually clambering up the notches through each repetition of the Leeds’ five-piece’s growling repeato-rock. Refusing to simply rely on a cyclical riff, the track is a testament to the subtle tangents that Hookworms constantly play off each other, keyboardist and producer MJ draping backing call and response melodies across the track, pushing onto more pop plains. 

The album will be available on CD (WEIRD040CD), vinyl (WEIRD040LP) and digitally (WEIRD040D). There is also a limited pressing, deluxe edition of the album (WEIRD040LPX), featuring a die cut sleeve, 180g heavyweight transparent vinyl, a bonus 7” with new tracks and MP3 download .

A year to the day since their last release for RSD 2015, Dott celebrate Record Store 2016 with a free download of their cover of David Bowie's Heroes. They will perform at the Bowie Tribute Night in The Cracker Factory, NY on April 29th.

Dott moved from Ireland to Toronto, Canada this year and have evolved into a two-piece band. They have been experimenting with drum loops and home-recordings which will very soon culminate in the release of new material. 
New songs and US Tour dates to be announced very soon.

Essential Tremors is something of an anomaly in a city steeped in twang, bathed in sunshine and besieged with hootenannies. Code Knr, Miller, Read Only Memory, Tan, and Eerie Neighbor make up the group voted most likely to trigger a cold sweat, and we love them for it. In the past year, the band has made the charge away from guitar music with a quiet strategy of sporadic shows of crawly, four-track downer violence. During this metamorphosis, the band cut tracks with former Terrible Two and current Serration Pulse synth-lord and tone-boss Daniel Tomczak, crafting a crisp record that is globally exasperated and groovy against all odds: a nosedive into a cesspool of circuit-bent pollution with all the precision intact, notoriously tense, rife with white-knuckle paranoia and fog. Throw in well-placed pangs of electroclash, swirling synth, waterlogged bass lines, and dark-sided shit, and you have an important reminder that good times are not forever, which we are honored to bring to your turntable. Grieving - Little Armoured

Out of Gothenburg comes Holy Now, a project that grew out of a strong need to create music from the heart, and their debut 7” single out 19th August via Beech Coma. With intimate melodies, yelling drums and sprawling choruses, the four piece lead you through their unique universe of timeless pop music in the vein of Alvvays, The Jesus And Mary Chain and Angel Olsen.

‘Wake Up’, a veritable pop dream of delirious vocals, riveting guitar solos and complex sensibilities, is the first taste of Julia Olander’s outstanding songwriting potential, backed by Ylva Holmdahl, Samuel Von Bahr and Hampus Eiderström Swahn. Tinged with melancholy throughout, the song also offers a light at the end of the tunnel. “It’s about wanting someone so much that everything gets messed up,” the band explain. “It’s about leaving, returning and letting go.”

‘Wake Up’ / ‘Please Love Me’ is released on 7” single on 19th August via Beech Coma. The single is the fourth instalment of a bi-monthly subscription series from the label, part-funded by Arts Council England, that has so far seen releases from Bruising, Lou E and Posture.
