In The Jet Age - We wanted to hold onto those golden summer minutes, but before we knew it, labor day's right there. No new anything, promises left hanging, and then in the rooms up above, the fools and kings are falling in love. Insult to injury, the thing wants to be big and great, the thing is almost just a thing. 

Me and Derek pulled this one out of the ether. It's a true collaboration, long distance and still miles left to ride, but even a rough sketch of what it wants to be is still an amazing place to begin. it comes from a pure place full of as much Shugga Shugga Sugar as we could stand, and we're pretty, pretty pleased with a cherry on top. 

I wanted to write a summer song. Derek just wanted to get some shit done, we both wanted to get our hands dirty. He worked at night and mostly odd minutes of the day trying to push and pull my attempt at a clean take, pumping as much saccharine (ˈsak(ə)rin,-rēn,-rīn/) into under three minutes as we could. Check out his sweet guitar and knob twiddling; and let us know if we've come anywhere near where we think we are, before we all run out of summer.

Too much good work from good people has gone into this track for me to continue referring to it as a "Demo". 
So with that in mind, no excuses and no apologies - allow me to present the new definitive version of In The Jet Age! 
Written and recorded by Mark Gabriel (Vocals, Guitar, Bass) with Derek leverington (Guitar, Vocals) responsible for the sweet-ass lead guitar and this new shiny mix, and especially helping to really launch this tune into orbit!  Also special thanks to Anthony Joseph Perry (his special mix of "Jet Age" coming down the pipe soon), and all the awesome music fans, who took time to share their feedback! And She Has Me was birthed years ago from a couple attempts to use this riff. it never translated well as an acoustic song, and never made it to the band. I always felt it could be a decent power pop ditty, so here's the first real attempt to lay it down as i always wanted to hear it. Although i consider it a successful demo, it's biggest fail is that i have to play all the instruments, as it could really benefit from some outside influence. xo

laid down this one with my pal Derek. from his home studio in the heart of Regina we finally had some time to lay a song down, after i don't know how many years of talking about it. Derek recorded, mixed, played drums, bass and lead guitar. It's a song I had just written, this is take 1.

And Flowers is the second half of a song title from a song on the Holy Microphone album called Feathers but it's not really a sequel. And flowers shares chords and maybe a little melody, but it's more of a counter point lyrics wise. Feathers is a sort of melancholy happy moment, a story told backwards of an encounter between more than friends. And Flowers is a song about an old friend who never made it out of that awful one way street that is Heroin addiction. He was a friend but also our bands sound guy. He was nearing the botom end of his last spiral from fame and fortune run out of family members who would help him, and was living on our couch. He gave me his Jacket which i cherished and wore for years, then he checked himself into 501 Queen Street West and never came out. This song is for him. We miss you.
