Passionné de soul et de musique noire au sens large, DJ résident des soirées Soul Parade à l’Alimentation Générale, il lance en parallèle des soirées la plateforme topfiverecords.fr en Septembre 2013 où il présente une poignée de titres rares ou moins de sa collection : Soul, jazz, deep funk, latin, doo-wop, le maître-mot étant le groove. XOA, led by London based producer and musician Nick Tyson, is set to release debut album ‘Way West’ on 14th June via Five Easy Pieces.

XOA means to look outwards; to draw inspiration from many sources. ‘Way West’ is alive with this: steeped in the rich analogue sonics of the past, the warmth of machines and influence from the sounds of London’s fervent music scene. Featuring a blend of contemporary electronic production and live instrumentation, 70s Afrobeat inspired drums and cosmic melodies are thrust into the present day with strong cues from house and techno.

Three vocalists contribute across the album, with Tyson choosing to work with singers he has a personal admiration and friendship with. Hollie Cook, known to many for her ethereal pop tinged reggae, delivers a sumptuous contribution on ‘Heartland’, adding a beautiful emotional dimension to the horn led track. Lulu Jones’ vocals are treated more as a sample for the garage tinged ‘Call On Me’ and Ruby Wood, of Submotion Orchestra, has worked with Tyson over a number of projects and their shared love of 90s soul comes to the fore on the laid back grooves and sun kissed ‘Only One Thing’.

“When collaborating, especially with vocalists on melodic and lyrical ideas, it’s important to have that personal connection and respect for each other’s craft. That’s why I never ask vocalists to prepare anything in advance for the tracks, I like to get in the room and just see what happens in the moment, to trust each other’s ideas, and for it to be a natural, organic and spontaneous process”.

Collaboration has always been at the heart of the project for Tyson. He plays the bulk of the instruments on the album but invites Marijus Aleksa on drums to provide live energy, extra synth work from Parisian Kenzo Zurzolo, and a notable Rhodes solo from Johnny Tomlinson (a member of Bonobo’s live band) on ‘Osu’.

After well received releases on Soundway Records, Cin Cin (with Wayward) and Banana Hill (with Contours); ‘Way West’ shows another step up for Tyson as a writer and producer.

“It feels like this project is coming alive for me, the music I envisaged in my mind a few years ago is being realised, and I’m proud of how it sounds”.

‘Way West’ is set to be released on 14th June 2019 via London based label Five Easy Pieces (Mo Kolours, Reginald Omas Mamode IV, Natureboy Flako, Royalty, Call Super) on vinyl LP and digital formats.

Pharmaceutical Audio’s ACD (Arts & Crafts Director) Hazxx releases his debut EP INTERNET CRAFT, following a 3 year sonic consultancy and Disc Jokey role at Pharma’s Trespasser ™ gatherings.

The EP has the sound, feel, and philosophy of Pharma ® embedded in the sound recordings. INTERNET CRAFT reimagines the works of loved Jazz, Latin & Soul pioneers through the exploration of synthesis and sampling. New techniques. Old sounds. Youtube meets Vinyl. The coming together of organics and synthetics. 

Pharma’s HRSCA (Harmonics, Resonance, & Spirit Chief Advisor) Darren Ziesing has blessed his Mastering expertise on this project and has embedded Pharma’s proprietary Hear To Help ™ signature frequency layering sound characteristics in this project.  Darren is a world renowned mastering engineer with clients involving Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, and Warner Music Group. Darren’s proprietary Light Giving Ceremony ™ enlightened and compelled the Directors and Shareholders of Pharmaceutical Audio to live a better life.

Exclusive Premiere: Hazxx "CTR FLUTE" (forthcoming on Pharmaceutical Audio)

We are happy to share the exhilarating live cinematic jazz sounds of Poland’s brilliantly titled Immortal Onion, with a recording of “Triggers”, recorded at Warsaw’s famous Jassmine club, forthcoming on U Know Me Records. 

Immortal Onion are an instrumental band from Gdańsk, Poland. The group consists of Ziemowit Klimek (upright bass/bass guitar/moog), Tomir Śpiołek (keyboards) and Wojtek Warmijak (drums). Formed in 2016, Immortal Onion offer a bold combination of many seemingly remote styles - jazz, minimalism as well as fusion, electronic music and even progressive metal.

“Triggers (live at Jassmine)” will be released on the fourth 10-inch EP celebrating the 10th anniversary of U Know Me Records, featuring 5 songs from Immortal Onion. For those missing live concerts there are 2 songs taken from the band's 8th of August performance at Jassmine club, Warsaw. The B-side starts with a rework of the song called "Leaving", originally composed by Hania Rani (who often performs with 2 members of Immortal Onion). The next song (“Zu Hause”) was created especially for this album as the result of the band’s experiments with electronics. The EP closes with a rework of “Eye Tracking” - a song from ”XD [Experience Design] - made by Kadrych.

The rework of “Leaving” will be released only on vinyl and won’t be available on streaming services.

Strictly limited edition - 300 hand-numbered copies. The first hundred will be released on red vinyl and copies from 101 to 300 as classic black ones. Released on December 18, 2020.

The album was created with help of trusted people, who also worked on “XD [Experience Design]” (the first Immortal Onion's album recorded for U Know Me Records and released in March 2020) - graphic design by Martiszu, mix by Envee (except the last song mixed by Maciej Stendek) and mastering by Eprom.
