Starting out and mostly being a bedroom project in its initial years, Yatin Srivastava Project is the solo project New Delhi based Yatin Srivastava which has taken huge steps in the past months to get out there as a full blown Progressive Rock/Progressive Metal band in the Indian independent music scene. Considering the band is relatively new (after being formed as a band), it has got a great response from people in India and in the United Kingdom. The band can also be described as DIY (Do it on your own) as it has spent nothing on the recording of the EP and has done everything on it’s own to expand as an independent band. 

The band released it’s first EP “The Dream Plays In Reverse” with much anticipation and a warm and welcoming response on the social media on 2nd October 2014. The album also has renowned musicians from the Indian independent music scene including Takar Nabam (Guillotine, Takar Nabam Ensemble, Takatrio) and Pranav Pahwa (Jester, Kamakshi Khanna Project, ex Five 8). The musicians who played on the record are also very much established on the Indian independent college music scene and are parts of independent Indian bands including Kunal Singh (Credence), Abhishek Singh Vidyarthy (Three Of A Kind, Purple Elephants) and Siddhant Seth (Purple Elephants). 

“The Dream Plays In Reverse” is a 5 song concept EP which delves into the idea of dream perception and the differentiation of the reality around us and the ‘made up’ or rather more suitable reality in a dream. It talks about a protagonist who goes into a dream state and creates a world which is totally contrary and opposite to the reality. It get’s interesting when through this made up/lucid dream his sub-conscious forces in the ideas of what the actual reality is and how he has to desperately get out of this. The album is influenced by the works of Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd and Metallica.
