Ep.8 Silvie Cristofoli & Renáta Opprecht (Rossz vér)

One of Edinburgh’s biggest upcoming duos - Rossz Vér showcase their dreamy breaky taste, only playing tracks from the B-side of their records. Silvie plays the first half, with Renáta following nicely.

Originally both from Hungary, Renáta and Silvie have been making quite the name for themselves in Edinburgh. They have shows with EHFM every second Tuesday 8-10-pm, they headlined Sneaky Peats on Hogmanay, and have gigs upcoming with Overground. 

Catch them playing in Bongo from 1-3 on the 1st of February with Overground

Ep. 8 Rossz vér

A mix made up (almost) entirely of tracks produced or remixed by Brett Johnson. I had to include a track by Dave Barker who he recorded with from time to time as well though. It would have been more but my Rocococoa has a scratch in it. Damn it, I'll be heading to Discogs to sort that out shortly.

Most of these tracks were bought in Play Music in Leeds. 

"Is that a new Brett Johnson?"

"Yeah, you want to give it a listen?"

"No, it's fine, I'll take it. What else you got?"

I know I wasn't the only one having that conversation around Leeds at the time, those tracks are buy on sight. A delight to DJ with as well. Huge baselines, weird noises and wonky sounds. What's not to love? 

There's definitely plenty more material for another of these mixes but this will do for now.

Superhero/ Sound Manipulator


Flash Atkins is a super hero who had his gravy days in the 80s saving the world with his ability to manipulate sound.  Unfortunately he's fallen on hard times and can be spotted in the less salubrious parts of London, Manchester and West Yorkshire often stoned or drunk on borrowed money and time.

To make ends meet he uses his special powers to remix and make deep disco music for Paper Recordings.

Let’s hope it gets him back on track.
