With the original release marking Rekids return from hiatus, Radio Slave's The Clone Wars is now revisited with a trio of new interpretations from three distinctive talents on house & techno.

On the A side, Markus Suckut moulds the original into the kind of no-nonsense rolling techno jam that has personified his releases for Mosaic and Figure. The B side enlists two US talents in the shape of Parris Mitchell and DJ Spider, with the former bringing a glitchy take on the jacking Chicago house that Mitchell perfected in his timeless productions for Dance Mania, and the latter shaping the track into crunchy weirdo techno that sits perfectly alongside his output for The Trilogy Tapes and his own NY-based Plan B Recordings.

After a successful debut year in 2016 on Soma, SLV kicks off 2017 in his suitably unique style with the Rises EP. The mysterious Berlin based producer has crafted a blazing 3 tracker that gracefully moves from hard hitting Deep Techno to more moving, melodic edged material. 

Connections gets things started at a fiery pace as SLV’s signature sub heavy, rolling percussion drives out atop a hollowed out vocal sample, aiming directly for peak time, dance floor action. Planetary goes a little deeper and hypnotic as yet more intense drums and crashing highs, combined with a mesmerising synth hook, end up in ferocious outcomes. Closing this latest release from SLV is Rises where he really takes things on a journey. Certainly things are at a slower pace than the previous two tracks but SLV makes up for that in emotive content. Beautifully crafted, delayed pianos are floated across driving beats and wisp-like hi hats. 

Another standout and individual creation for the, as yet, unidentified SLV.

British producer Kris Davis makes a dreamy eccentric remix. Adding a hypnotizing touch to the vocal. Stunning work !

Label bosses Hicky & Kalo remix the track by adding percussions and bringing a cool rhythmic. We can notice a touch of progressive within the arrangement. Definitely a groover.

"Since its inception in 2009, Andrew Rasse aka Butane and Sean O’Neal aka Someone Else’s Little Helpers imprint has remained a must-visit label for DJs within the house and techno world. Offering releases packed full of both stand-alone productions and groove-heavy DJ tools, the conceptual imprint now turns to one of its founders partnered alongside one of its core artists in young Italian talent Riko Forinson to deliver an eight track package that digs deeper than your usual Little Helpers EP, offering pockets of melody and striking sound design whilst ultimately remaining functional and fitting the core label brief – to work for DJs.

Butane and Forinson’s opening pair of tracks set the tone immediately, opting for dreamy, rich chords to partner rolling percussive grooves as opposed to the stripped back aesthetics many have come to know them for, before floating into the 303 driven bassline of Little Helper 337-3, or the hypnotic vocal hooks and growling bass tones of 337-4 as the pair firmly switch things up.

Little Helper 337-5 offers an instant injection of energy as the duo pair swirling synth lines amongst crisp drum licks and resonant vocal chants and murmurs, whilst 337-6 and 337-7 build on this shift in liveliness with well worked percussion arrangements, stuttered voxs and further deep yet driving synth work. Last up, Rasse and Forinson strip things back offering an expertly positioned slice of soul, closing out the package in style with a medley of metallic and organic percussion licks, rich female vocals and snaking grooves throughout – it’s Little Helpers but probably as you’ve never heard before, offering an excellent example of soulful yet dynamic modern house music."

Markantonio’s label AnalyticTrail welcomes an imprint debut from BEC who after making a name for herself on Pan-Pot’s Second State has also releases on Carl Cox’s Intec amongst others of a high calibre.

BEC is one of techno’s leading ladies quickly rising through the ranks of the genre, and with this EP she becomes a part of AnalyticTrail’s roster of artists which already includes the likes of Joseph Capriati, Flug, Matt Sassari and Luigi Madonna.

Originally from the UK but currently based in Berlin, she is also a popular DJ still relatively early in her career and has already played in many parts of the world as far flung as Australia.

Each of the four tracks brings something different to the EP with the title cut having morphing acid and a captivating vocal sample that gives it its title. Still dark and pounding “Eclipse” is a trippy take on a similar set of sounds with the addition of a grinding bassline, and “One Chance” closes things with its melodic synth stabs layered with industrial percussion.
