Balamii resident and co-founder of the music magazine @halcyonwax and the women and non-binary label @shiftingspheres, Roo is deeply involved in the electronic scene, as both a vinyl and digital DJ and a writer for the likes of The Ransom Notes, @identification_of_music and BABMAG. 

Establishing herself as a key player in the UK scene with gigs at the likes of Lakota, The Hare and Hounds and Deadwax, Roo injects plenty of soul, groove and depth into her sets. This can be felt through her selection across a multitude of genres from deep house to dreamy, otherworldly electro, to cosmic nu-jazz and Balearic melodies, as well as broken beat, acid and disco. 

Over the past three years she has supported the likes of Carista, Special Request and Al Zanders, as well as holding a residency on Vandelay Radio and appearing on the likes of Balamii, Melodic Distraction and Noods Radio.

For our second instalment, we welcome Aaron Rutherford. Aaron has been on our radar for a while for his appearances on the Leeds circuit supporting artists such as DJ Seinfeld, Brame & Hamo and Mella Dee. 

But what has really impressed us recently are the quality of his productions, with support from Midland, DJ Seinfeld, Brame & Hamo and Denis Sulta.

Tune in for an hour of progressive wonderment. 

A bit about the DJ: 

As far as up and coming electronic artists go, Aaron Rutherford is undoubtedly a name that is featuring more and more frequently in that bracket. Hailing from Manchester, a city well known for its long-standing embracement of British rave culture, Aaron cites influence from early trance and electronica along with artists like Brame & Hamo, Midland, Bicep, and more - something that is prominent throughout his work.
Aaron’s sound is often described as melodic house and techno; a loose-fit descriptive for a broad understanding and appreciation of electronic sounds. His impressively creative sonic palette has already seen his work supported by the likes of Midland, Brame & Hamo, Denis Sulta, Dusky and many more.
Quickly becoming a standout name in the north of the UK, Aaron has already graced some of the countries most revered club spaces and performed to increasingly growing crowds. Some of Aaron's most notable bookings include Mint Club & Mint Warehouse, Leeds; Church, Leeds; Joshua Brooks, Manchester; Underground, Liverpool; South, Manchester and House of Smith, Newcastle. Aaron has also had the pleasure of supporting some of the industry’s biggest names including Paul Woolford, Mella Dee, Jasper James, Brame & Hamo, DJ Seinfeld, Late Night Tuff Guy, Elliot Adamson, Secondcity and Del-30.
For an artist that is relatively new to the industry, Aaron has already achieved an impressive amount in a short space of time. From learning to produce music in 2016 and learning to DJ in 2017, to now being supported by some of his biggest inspirations; Aaron’s early success can only be a catalyst for big things in the future. With an increasing amount of finished music coming out of the studio and ever-growing club exposure, there is no doubt that Aaron Rutherford is well on his way to breaking the UK scene and it won’t be long until he starts to reach the eyes and ears of Europe and further afield.

Next up is XOYO / EGG resident, Yung Singh. The London man supplements his club presence with frequent appearances on the airwaves via renowned stations such as Balamii, Reprezent & Threads Radio. We are very proud to bring him onto the Flat Earth Disco show.

The Mix: Starting off dark and probing with some left-field bass and heavy gqom before upping the energy and venturing into the realms of hard drum, bass heavy UK Funky, post-dubstep, 130 rollage with some baile funk, drill and Jersey Club to finish. This mix showcases the darker side of Yung Singh's sound whilst retaining the swing and energy he loves to play. Transmitting from your nearest 5G tower to remind you that the Earth is still flat. Stay woke! 

A bit about the DJ: 

Known for his reading of diverse crowds and genre fluid sets, Yung Singh has had a stellar 18 months. Kicking 2019 off by opening room 1 at Fabric he was soon made a monthly resident at XOYO with SNEAK, in addition to headlining their Halloween events at Corsica Studios. After supporting the iconic DJ Hype and receiving love from the likes of Donae’o for his radio shows Yung Singh has moved from strength to strength and has added a regular slot with Glo at Egg to his roster. 

Not just content with shows in the UK, 2019 saw him play in Colombia and make his festival debut at ADE in the Netherlands. To add to his big club experience, he has also been hosting his own radio shows which sees him dig deep across a multitude of genres on Balamii, Keakie and Mode FM, alongside guest mixes on Reprezent and Threads Radio. 2020 has continued in similar fashion with a move up to headline sets at XOYO and Egg in addition to support for legendary names at iconic London venues such as Camden Assembly.

Mas Que Nada is formed of two London based DJs and life long friends Bremz & Northern Line.

They play house and disco and all things funky and groovy. 2019 saw them play across the UK at Glastonbury, POW Brixton, Queens Yard and many more. 👽

2020 Got off to a good start before lockdown playing EGG, Orange Yard ( E1‘s new state of the art club) and 'the Ministry' (Ministry of Sound members club). 

September saw them launch of inaugural Boat party on the river Thames, sunset Balearic vibes. This is due to make a return later this summer. 

This March they returned and hosted house legend AFTC at Colours Hoxton

Gabriel Badwan ( @gabrielbadwan ) is a young selector and collector from Curitiba, BR, the name behind HMTW. @hmtwtrilhasonora , a rising radio show and party label. When a child had his first contact with his father and uncle record collection, this sparked his love for music. Gabriel is making a name around Brazil selectors, spinning jazz, balearic, dancehall, dub, street soul and more. At his sets brings music from all the ages and all the corners of the world, making it hard to label it in one gender.

For our eighth instalment we have the eclectic Durham selector Luke T. 

This mix is a perfect showcase of the sound Luke has become known for after years of regular club gigs - most notably as a resident for the now-infamous @RotateDurham and this winter the renowned alpine social hub @Sullys Meribel. Luke has given us a masterclass in percussion and groove, starting off with an eclectic mix of house and disco before building to tasteful tech-house and subtle minimal in a mix that constantly develops without ever loosing its rhythm. Never to be pigeonholed into one particular style or sound, Luke goes on to flirt with acid basslines and atmospheric breaks before bringing the mix to a subdued close that oozes with charm and soul in equal measures. Bringing together tracks from a range of genres, styles, tempos and eras, Luke has meticulously showcased his unique style.

2020 has brought the man new horizons with a role over at Pulse Radio and the launch of his new community project, Reshape Audio. (Events, publications and audio based in London.)

For our 12th instalment we have Cardiff-based DJ Nervous @officialdjnervous . Co-founder of local success, Global Sounds @global_soundscardiff and resident with Good Life @good-life-official . 🪐⚡️

Over the last couple of years we have seen Mr Nervous (aka Dom Pearson ) go from strength to strength. 💪🏽

Introducing @microkid_dj , aka Sam Hill . We got to know Sam at Leeds Uni, always a regular on the Leeds house party scene. This funky dj / composer has now dragged his record bag down to the capital where we are glad to welcome him on the show. 💃🏼

The former Somerset man's fascination with music came from raiding his dad's enviable funk and jazz collection from a young age and even writing songs from as early as 10. 🎷

More recently he's built on his taste for soul, disco & house on top of his penchant for jazz and funk, Sam is now learning the ropes of electronic production. 🚀

We have always been big fans of Sam's selections, tune in for an hour of rare cuts and near-forgotten favourites. 🍺

We hope to see Microkid on more lineups once events are possible again. 🕺🏽

In this week we have a wonderfully wobbly one from Henri Fontaine ( @callum-traynor ). An hour of everything weird and wonky; from rapid breaks and jungle to chuggers and comatosing dubstep.

Henri Fontaine aka Callum Traynor aka Pokemon Traynor joins us for the first time under the Flat Earth Disco banner. He's been one of our day 1 selectors originally booked in to play our opening show back in April. 

At Uni Callum was heavily involved in the alternative Durham nightlife scene, not necessarily a city that immediately comes to mind when thinking of leftfield electronic music but we were very happy to have our preconceptions shattered. (PSA Gabber Boat Parties in Durham are a thing and you should all go). 

In 2018 The Rotate, Durham ( @rotatedurham ) co-founder earnt himself the extremely coveted title of "World's Most Intense Amateur DJ" (according to Vice). Now managing "Leftfield Techno Memes" (Record Label) and a show on Lahmacun Radio (Hungary), Callum is really honing his sound, feeding off his fascination for just truly weird shit. 

With a fresh VA compilation set to be released in Dec on LTM, we honestly don't know what to expect but we know we will be entertained.

Mascott are a production tag team born in 2020 from Manchester, made up of good friends DJ Keegan and Matt Novis. 

Their style covers a broad spectrum of disco and house music, often blending between old and new era’s. The boys are no strangers to the club scene having played at venues in both the UK and Australia.
