Flat Earth is back for more conspiracy theories. The team is proud to present the first opus of our new digital series. The dystopian universe sets off by introducing 3 new artists of the label : Haaland, Wilt and Tancred. 
 
Tancred is a young producer based in Brussels delivering two raw cuts filled with tension. The first track is an electro, Drexciya oriented and Detroit influenced gem. Syncopated rhythm and groovy bassline incoming. The second one is more of an evolutive dark minimal track full of hostility. Both tracks are draped with a lynchesque mysterious and dreamy piano in the background. 
 
Haaland is a Strasbourg based producer kicking it with a scifi twisted emotional banger. The melancholy of the DX7 pads melts with sexy whispers and deep robotic voices. It tells a story about an avant-garde fallen love with a smoky club oriented vibe. 
 
Both artists are going to release solo EPs on the label. More info soon

Wilt is half of the duo RBDP. He blessed us with an ethereal breakbeat track that will lead you into the ruins of a futuristic city under a pale moonlight . The hypnotic arpeggio blends perfectly with a nocturnal and silky pad. Nostalgia from the future.

In the unremitting flux of our digital world, the world craves a sense of harmony.

Cyber Katana EP is an ode to that quest, exploring the interconnection between technology and humans.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese culture and the discipline of martial arts, Tancred imagined synths to realize oneself and as instruments of social connection. In doing so, he’s celebrating technology not as a simple tool but as a catalyst for human creation and emotional connectivity.

With his hardware, Tancred forged the first track ‘Cyber Katana’ as an emotional club banger, where the gritty roaring bass can effortlessly shake an entire room. He then draws his influence from Detroit’s electro with Social Beatwork and Robot’s kiss. Finally, NMSS delivers a cutting-edge Bass remix of the first track, perfect for the dancefloor.

During This techno-optimist body of music, Tancred leads us to the question are we really using the synths or are them using us?

In our pivotal era where technology and art intermingle like never before, Brussels-based artist NMSS unveils a mysterious EP titled '?' that explores the intricate relationship between artificial intelligence and creativity. 
 
 Inspired by a captivating conversation between the late pop star Sophie and the AI entity, Sofia, this musical opus raises fundamental questions about the future role of AI in the artistic realm. Without providing clear answers, NMSS rather delves its audience into a complex emotional sonic journey. 
 
The project merges Bass music, Post-club, Detroit Electro and Ambient influences to conceive a wordless yet stirring soundscape. The 5 tracks of the EP "?" are all chapters of a sonic novel that examines the interaction between robotics and the human soul. Taking us from a hostile and tense atmosphere to hopeful and joyous epiphany moments. They leave the listener in a profound reflective state. 
 
 "?" is much more than just a musical recording; it is an emotional and philosophical experience that invites everyone to question the nature of art and technology.

Flat Earth records seeks to connect political statements and electronic music just like pionners such as Drexciya or Underground Resistance did.

Our first release is inspired by "Discipline and Punish" written by the french philosopher Michel Foucault. The music and lyrics speaks about the Cambridge Analytica scandal or the cheap labor of black people jailed in the US.

In his book Michel Foucault evokes The Panopticon, an architectural concept created by Jeremy Bentham. It is based on a circular prison with a central tower. It allows a single watchman to observe every prisoner without them knowing. So the people in cells have to assume they are always under observation.
We can draw an analogy with the internet surveillance where our data are collected by government's intelligence service or private companies.

When we consider conspiracy theories, the key notion is cognitive bias. Flat Earth seeks to express the flawed part inside each of us: our distorted and distorting perception of reality; our capacity to twist reality in order to suit our beliefs; our fantasies and fears, which stick on what we don’t know or on what we lost faith for. Each of us perceives reality in a different way, implying that multiple realities exist.
