Freshly Faded Mix

This project grew from the same impulse that led me to reimagine Für Elise— an urge to hear the familiar through different light. While working within the textures of Middle Eastern and flamenco expression, I found The Flower Duet transforming into something new: gentler in tone, yet rich in pulse and movement.

What emerged blends classical grace with Arabian warmth—strings and subtle percussion tracing the spaces between the notes we all recognize. It may not follow the rules that purists hold dear, but it keeps their beauty intact while letting them drift somewhere quieter, more reflective.

Like my earlier works, this collection unfolds in multiple moods and colors. Some versions feel festive, some pensive, others simply still. Each carries a small piece of that tension between restraint and release. I hope one of them settles into your own listening space and stays a while.

Flatfoot Sam has been involved in the dance music scene since taking an interest in the vibe from 15 years old. Flatty took inspiration from the original hardcore DJs who rocked the dance music scene back in the day. He then went on to buy his own set of decks in 1995, starting from the bottom with some second-hand Soundlab belt drives. He kicked off his career, releasing a few vinyl bangers in late the ’90s, and shortly after he found his feet in a new line of work – promoting dance parties throughout the ‘90s and 2000s. 

Fasting forward to the beginning of the first lockdown in 2020, Flatty harnessed his creative capabilities to create TripField; a fusion of Triphop and Leftfield that incorporates chunky beats paired with the serenity and underlying calmness of Balearic vibes. TripField features cranking but uplifting rhythms and warm subby basslines at or below 100 bpms, with ethereal samples and synths that distinguish it as a unique genre of its own. With the inclusion of subtle acid lines and an attitude, reminiscent of the early raving days and bands like Leftfield, Moby and Massive Attack, whilst also harnessing elements of The Prodigy.
