For example, the creation of the “star” and the “cult” of worship around the star him or herself gives rise to the illusion among the worshipers that a rise to stardom is in her or his grasp.  Thus the dull truth of class division and unequal opportunity is overlaid by unrealistic hope.

Live improvised ambient music for cassette tape loop, AM radio, and eurorack modular.

After attempting to create an infinite looping cassette tape I was finally successful last night. It took a lot of precision work to get the small cassette tape spliced together. 

The cassette loop in this composition is the lo-fi bell sounds heard in the beginning and throughout the piece. Layered on the sound is live AM radio station static. I used the Qu-bit Nebulae to playback a pre-recorded melodic loop. Everything was mixed together with the Korgasmatron filter and brought into Ableton Live where I added some reverb and delay. In Live I also played back some found sound voice recordings.

It feels as though most summers here in good ol' Blighty are a bit of a no summer. Sure, by now it may be September but following on from a May in which every one of us enjoyed bright, heady days we've had a bit of a lull and it seems as though Mr Sunshine has decided to pass over London's grey skies for another year.

Still, no harm in partying in the dark and the rain is there? We might as well all jsut take to the streets and celebrate the rain - that'll confuse those in charge of the weather. Failing that, we'll write a strongly worded letter and get all of  our friends to sign it ten times with a bunch of fake signature. Surely 20 signatures is enough to spark a response?
