Fletina is a Scottish sound artist & field recordist who creates raw abstract audio collages using found objects, room sounds, environmental noises, household items, mechanical devices and various electronic manipulation techniques.

non-music for the non-masses

I am an experimental musician, sound artist and performer whose work explores the rural landscape of Suffolk (with a particular focus on the morphology of working class soundscapes). I also explore how conceived notions of the pastoral landscape inform and influence ideas of national identity. 
 
My work uses manipulated field recordings, homemade instruments, music concrete and modified electronics salvaged from potential landfill to create textural explorations of timbre with instinctive, chance-based arrangements that mimic the rural soundscape.

Hannah Kemp-Welch is a sound artist with a socially-engaged practice. She produces audio works with community groups for installation and broadcast, using voices, field recordings and found sounds.

My sound practice is based on field recording sessions where I try to capture the singularity of each soundscape. 
The choice of the recording place determines the nature of the sounds - because each space has its own sound imprint.
Field recording is a confrontation between the interior and the surrounding outside space(s). The sound recordist sculpts with the sounds that pass through him/her and his/her microphones. 
These moments of solitude create a necessarily intimate link with the space and its context: between the nature of the field recordings and the places of broadcasting.
I am inspired by the works of sound artist Knud Viktor, who essentially targets the soundscape of nature as well as sound installations by artists Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller.
