Do a quick google search and you’ll find 8 hour ambient video’s on youtube with the most generic background sounds that don’t do the genre any justice. This mix is an attempt to curate quality ambient into a cohesive 8 hour wash of sound. The drone like frequencies are hypnotic in ways that can make you feel like you’re in an altered state of consciousness. It can either be unobtrusive background music or a highly emotional experience, depending on how you listen. These 8 hours can get you through a rough day, zoning out and focusing on your work by creating a masking effect, reducing the difference between background noise and more distracting sounds. Or play it quietly while falling asleep to the comforting drone (put a speaker under your bed) hopefully transitioning to a different feel on every sleep cycle. We have designed this track as an ambient sound-scaping to create a setting of an underwater sanctuary as well as a feeling of being able to breath underwater; interwining the perceived reality with an indefinite number of possible realities. For meditation purposes, Sunken is specifically focused on the Sacred Chakra. The structuring and coordination of the sounds within aim to enable smooth transitions between the levels of consciousness, thus enhance and catalyze the meditation experience.

This is a piece of music that uses bilateral stimulation to help with EMDR grounding meditations. I also hope it's just nice to chill out to and uplift! Best listened to through headphones or stereo speakers. Enjoy! All rights reserved.

This month’s guest mix in Sofa Beats series was recorded by AYO.

AYO’s sound is taking you on a journey into a world of dreamy soundscapes, drone subs, small creaky details, long evolving pads and slow beats. Through scandinavian forests, white mountains and northern lights into a world where we communicate and connect without words.
By sampling sitars-violins-cellos, modulating FM synths, incorporating field recordings and playing around with raw data and noise, AYO attempts to create a timeless bubble of calm atmospheric sounds, that gently yet persistently makes ones mind and body drift towards a fundamental earthly connection.
AYO is the solo project of Julie Schønherr Rosengreen. Julie has been playing the violin as a kid both playing classical and a bit of folk music, but also composing her own and playing around with different combinations of melodies. As she grew older she began appreciating electronic music and later on started composing her own tunes.

Not long after she startet producing, she got her first festival gig in Denmark and have since then been active in the Danish chill scene, playing at festivals like Senpati, Sensun, Shiva Spirit and multiple events. Abroad she has played in countries like Nepal, Morocco, Germany, Spain, Lithuania etc. This includes festivals such as Freqs of Nature, Transition festival and Gaia gathering.
Currently she is studying for her bachelor in Sound Design at Sonic College in Denmark. But earlier she has also been doing electronic music and VJ courses at Frontsession in Aarhus and Engelsholm College for Arts and Music.
