this is the 9th chapter in my 'trust me i was there' series - this is the part 1 from 1991.

91 was the year i started on pirate radio with my dj partner swift (not mampi swift btw, a different one!) we were on impact fm and our first show was the first time i'd touched a pair of technics - till then i'd been using decks without pitch, or if i was lucky some soundlabs. the studio mixer was an mrt 60, futuristic business at the time :D

swift and i did 4 hours every sat night and 4 ours sunday night, plus any cover shows we could do. keen...

music wise - 91 was a real turning point, you can really hear the uk sound starting to take off, most tracks had a breakbeat instead of the 4/4 kick that had been more common before and it sounds like the samplers were getting used in the studio more and more - for me, the music up to this point was great, but from 1991 its just becomes exceptional. the golden era of the jungle sound has now begun :D

Bordello A Parigi had the chance to dig up some unreleased Flemming Dalum gold from the now defunct Roller Disco Records archives. We present Serie d'Oro!

Roller Disco Records began in 2010 in the UK with a focus on releasing DJ mixes containing obscure and overlooked sub-genres of italo and European 80s. In Serie d'Oro, the mix archives are flung wide open with unreleased DJ mixes from Flemming Dalum. 

The second mix "Full Throttle" is unashamedly upbeat and highlights some of the faster paced BPM italo and synth records.

This mix was made on request from the legandary Danish DJ Kjeld Tolstrup (R.I.P.) He worked at the Danish National Radio back in 2008 and wanted a wider audience to discover and learn about italo disco. I followed his request and made this italo tribute mix to honor the legendary italo artists and to share my italo passion to the new generation of today. This mix included most of my personal italo top favorits – no obscure records this time. So this mix represent a good example of the early italo sound which got me into italo back in the early 80s. It was played several times at the Danish National Radio which means that at least 500.000 listeners got this ultimate introduction to italo disco!

Our 25th Anniversary slot this week features Richard Dorfmeister who appeared on the show in 2003 and featured many times as one half of Kruder and Dorfmeister, as well as his project Tosca with Rupert Huber, amongst others. Opening with ECM artist Steve Tibbetts, his mix floats between Gui Boratto, his own lush edit for Selah Sue, acoustic guitar of Jeb Loy Nichols and the dubbed out Rhythm & Sound featuring Cornell Campbell on vocals. He then weaves through Pat Metheney, the dub version of Sunset from Grace Jones' last album, blues from Ry Cooder and ending with a couple of tracks from his recent Tosca album 'Odeon'.

DK opens hour 2 with Lone (another member of Hoya Hoya) with the huge 'Airglow Fires' and a whole host of music from the Ninja stable, including Machinedrum, Thundercat on Brainfeeder, Helena Hauff on Werkdiscs, Kid A on Technicolour and the legendary Congo Natty with a forthcoming track on Big Dada. Plus classic tracks from Maxx Traxx and Gino Soccio, before closing with Hackney Colliery Band and their version of Goldie's Inner City Life.
JuJu & Jordash close the show with a weird and wonderful selection just as we like it, taking in Anandar Shankar, Cabaret Voltaire, Sun Ra and The Art Ensemble of Chicago ending a show living up to the tagline 'The Broadest Beats'.
