Talk about an educational session. Due to all the adversity we went through with this show we had LIKE play music past the last hour and extend all the way for a total of 3 hours & 39 minutes. From the very first minute to the very end we were providing music that you never heard of or forgot about, configuring wires, figuring out audio issues, chopping it up about food, you name it. So much effort went into producing this show. We want to thank our brother LIKE for rolling through and blessing us with a proper DJ set, freestyle over Esta's beat, and talking to us about his experiences growing up and being in Pac Div. This man has traveled the world, played alongside the best in the game, and has also produced for/with the best (Kendrick, The Neptunes, ect). Joe Kay made sure to touch on topics that are very insightful. LIKE will be releasing with us on Soulection so stay tuned! We'll be back next week with Dream Koala and another heavy session for you.

<I><B>Soulection Radio will be moving back one hour starting next Saturday and will go on air from 11am-2pm (PST)***</i></b>

This week's edition of Soulection Radio was really essential. We had a pioneer and important individual who is responsible for many great things going on in our music culture today. He goes by Daddy Kev which most of you may already be familiar with. He founded the legendary weekly event Low End Theory  and co-founded Alpha Pup Records/Distribution. Kev dropped a 40 minute set that made us feel like we we're in the time warp in Stanley Kubrick's space hub from '2001: A Space Odyssey'. 

Kev made sure to sprinkle all the classics as well as some forthcoming unreleased material from who knows who. Things got really interesting when Kev and Joe jumped in to the interview portion  during the 2nd hour to discuss everything from experiences at Low End Theory, mastering (sound engineering education), the current state of today's music culture, favorite artists to work with, and even a Low End Theory festival that is coming this year. Definitely an educational experience! Joe Kay also showcased some forthcoming material that is too exclusive to be identified (track ID'd ~ Unknown - Untitled) but stay tuned and we will be announcing some of these next artists/releases. We'll catch you next Saturday at our new time.

Here we are with our first release of 2014 by the young and gifted Zikomo. Representing Long Beach, CA this man right here can chop and flip a sample along with some of the best in the world. The fact that Soulection has primarily been about the 'future-sound' we must admit that it feels so good to go right back to the essence and bring back that feel-food soulful/boombap vibe. There aren't too many people out there in the game who still stay true to this sound today. Lets bring it back one time shall we? Zikomo is about to become real familiar in your music library. Been travelling around North America the last few months and have finally been able to sit still and write something... Actually I started writing 4 songs in the last 2 days and another 1 a month or so ago on a late night bus leaving Austin for San Antonio. Setting up a studio on a bus isn't practical. Currently just working with my laptop, a rubbish interface and some average headphones in an apartment in Toronto. This track is rough but wanted to get the ball rolling, I have every intention of writing a lot of music once I get settled. Much love.
