SKAR, born Juan Ramirez, is a music producer with a passion for modern electronic vibes.

Hailing from Colombia, the artist moved to the United States when he was quite young. He discovered his love for DJing at the age of 14. It did not take him long to master his craft and constantly improve his diverse range of skills. SKAR managed to combine stunning melodies with infectious grooves and great beats to create a catchy, yet direct and edgy sound. It’s crazy to think that his music career might never have happened if it wasn’t for his drunk uncle, who got too drunk to perform behind the decks. SKAR thankfully had enough courage to stand up to the task and take over. Little did he know, this was the beginning of something truly special. From the first family party, he kept on DJing and performing at any given opportunity, later performing gigs at some of the best NYC clubs and underground parties.
 
Sadly, SKAR had to stop DJing right when an unfortunate accident changed his life. He was working a day job at a sheet metal plant and his long hair got stuck in a gear machine, to the point where he was scalped. His skin was ripped down to the bone, leading to a lengthy recovery period. The healing process was slow and stressful. With a lot of downtime, SKAR built a studio in his home. Quickly, he expanded his passion for DJing into something even more spectacular, music production. He progressed through trial and error and countless tutorials, eventually developing a unique sound. From bad things, good things can happen. SKAR is definitely proof of that. Not only has his bad experience given him a interesting stage name, but it also gave him a new perspective on music. With a lot of determination and focus, SKAR is ready to make you get lost in the music….

Ruby and the Vines fronted by vocalist/bassist Binisa Bonner, fuse influences as diverse as rock, jazz, afro-beat and reggae. The line-up is completed by guitarist Greg Sanders (Rhythms of the City) and drummer Ben Assiter (James Blake’s drummer), who complement Binisa’s soulful vocal delivery and melodic bass lines with complex, colourful grooves. The group is a classic product of London’s uniquely eclectic and multicultural music scene.
