There is a unique presence in the work of Toronto based Duo, Nature of Music. There is a sense of patience that allows their sound to ‘breathe’ in the framework of their sets and their production work. Strings play out, the delays roll off into the distance, and the reverb swells and holds you. They achieve this through utilizing the three principle components in music. The duo fuses rhythm, melody, and harmony into musical works
that combine both live performance and DJing into sophisticated blends. Drum machine rhythm pieces, mesmerizing palettes of melody sprinkled with hints of spoken word and acapella, and rich atmospheric pads and string ensembles create deep harmonies that all play equal rolls in the duo’s theater of sound.

Nature of Music formed in 2009 and has since worked with some of the industry’s most innovative tastemakers. They have been praised by industry heavyweight, Hernan Cattaneo as a “Top production duo to look out for.” This is reflected with their releases for Cattaneo’s influential Sudbeat label. Their talent has brought them to international territories across oceans for both intimate affairs and crowd jamming festivals.

Nature of Music stylistically are unlike any other and after a few plays become instantly ￼recognizable. Their work is aimed to make people move a way that keeps them lost in ￼the present moment. It is a peaceful state of being that is promoted through beautiful melancholic shades of electronic music.

In our mission to discover talents across the world of deep sounds, MONOLOOG (NL) gained our attention through his podcast series “Common Sense”. His passion for a unique melody is definitely the base in his sets where he likes to play with different genres.  

MONOLOOG prepared a Boulevardier for Schirmchendrink: delicious, straight forward but not inconsequent. Someone once said it does not require a degree in mixology to mix a Boulevardier. Using this analogy for a dj set we will agree that you can easily buy and mix all “ingredients” – however, creating a set does not only include the technical part of mixing. More important is the careful selection of ingredients and the ability to create that unique flow throughout the set.  

We felt that MONOLOOG is pretty good at it – what do you think?

Maharetta Records presents Italian-born label DJ KIMIK YIU.

Kimik Yiu otherwise known as Yuri Merenda was born In Pisa in 1989, and began his long journey Into electronic music with his love for Minimal Techno, this was where he originally honed his beatmatching skills on Vinyl.
Inevitably this led him to discover many other forms of electronic music, and of course, the world of Djing. Like many, after much research and different musical ventures, he finally found Psychedelic Trance. Never looking back and taking with him Inspiration from previous musical experiences. This diverse background then paved the way for his life and career as a Dj.
It’s Infectious groove, and undeniably addictive sound mesmerized Yuri, something he felt, had always been missing from other genre’s.

Shortly after his discovery, he Immediatly began organizing several small parties around the area of Turin, and In 2012 met Ale Nukleall, the label manager at Blacklight Records, where he stayed for 3 years.
A major turning point for Yuri’s career, This then gave him the opportunity to play at many International festivals, Including. Future Nature, Human Evolution and Own Spirit.

In 2015 he was picked up by Maharetta Records, a label founded In spain Co-run by Zac Lee and Juan Fontorira Moyer, where he continues to push and develop himself as an artist within their roster.

Something very unique happened that week, something called Burning Man. An experience I never felt before, a feeling of freedom, love & happiness. All united as one - a true community.

Burning man opened many doors for me and I can decently say that it changed my path from where I was before and guided me to a special place. I'm very happy to share with you all my recording taken Monday night on the playa.

We are so excited to have the amazing Floloco with us for our 32nd podcast. He has put together an incredible mix that is the perfect blend of beautiful tunes to tell an exceptional story, 

Here is more about Floloco in his own words: 

"As kid of the nineties I have a couple decades of experience in electronic music. No matter if playing live or compiling a mix, for me it’s all about creating an experience for the crowd. Some call it storytelling, a journey. I think, this is just what DJ’ing should be about. 

I don’t care so much about release dates or genres – often spending hours, days or even weeks for the track selection, it just must fit together. Making a mix is more like producing one, over-long track for me, always striving to create something “complete”. The result is often hard to describe, its more about feeling it. However, I gave it a try for this one:

The first breath of spring air is that fresh, distinctive smell before and after the rain. It reminds me that nature is about to wake up and soon turns from brown to green. It is soft, pure and subtle. This softness develops to an intense bouquet of scents, when nature becomes fully alert and awake. And the air will be saturated with the heady and energized scents of flowers and trees. I think this is what my mix is about 😉.

Electronic music is my passion and a contrast to the daily office routine. Aiming to spread the music I love this also led to the wonderful @Schirmchendrink collective, a project together with Belgium’s @Bigasti."
