From his early work with the incomparable Virgin Prunes, to his eclectic solo albums, his soundtrack scores, his work in theatre and film, Gavin Friday is an uncompromising maverick whose music and theatrics celebrate the world according to him.

His new album, 'catholic' is out in Ireland on April 22, and May 7 in UK and Europe. A North American release (digital) is planned for May 17, with a physical release in June.

He composed a great number of scores for Film and Television o.a. for 'Borgman' (Alex van Warmerdam, official selection Cannes 2013). He was awarded ‘European Composer of the Year’ (Felix) for The Northerners (Alex van Warmerdam) and a ‘Golden Calf’ for Kicks (Albert ter Heerdt) and nominated 5 times. In addition, he has been nominated for an Edison with his former band The Moondogs for their album ‘Diamond in the Crowd’. He has further composed for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Ebonyband, Carel Kraayenhof, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Jiskefet, de Kift, Peter Greenaway, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and – numerous times – for Orkater. His musical theatre play Who Murdered Mary Rogers? for wich he delivered both music and concept, was awarded with the ‘CJP Podium Prijs’ and the ‘Proscenium Prijs’. Now he plays guitar in the Black Banjos, an alt.surfband with Erik van der Horst & Kees van der Vooren. Is co-director of Studio de Slapende Hond. With Sluysmans & van Warmerdam he made Murder Ballads, Judee Sill, It's Not the Tommy Cooper Story. Scored Rojo, Argentinian feature Film &  the Nipkowschijf awarded tv documentary series Schuldig.
