Born in Tahiti, where he lives, Florent Atem is a two-time Grammy-nominated guitarist, singer and songwriter.

A multiple music award winner in Tahiti and Hawaii, he has established a solid reputation in the South Pacific region along with his sister, singer and keyboardist Carole Atem, with whom he usually performs.

Over the years, Florent has recorded or performed with musicians such as Virgil Donati, Michael Angelo Batio, Michael Manring, Jeff Campitelli, Matt Bissonette, John Cuniberti, Henry Kapono as well as Cecilio & Kapono, among others.

Florent Atem est un guitariste, chanteur et auteur-compositeur originaire de Tahiti en Polynésie Française, où il se produit souvent en compagnie de sa sœur Carole Atem aux claviers et au chant.

Primé à diverses reprises aux Oscars de la musique à Tahiti ainsi qu'à Hawaii, Florent Atem est devenu en 2007 le premier Tahitien à être nominé aux Grammy Awards, avant de recevoir en 2009 une deuxième nomination pour la prestigieuse cérémonie de récompenses musicales américaine.

A lover of great music in all it's forms who enjoys the challenge of bringing something new into the musical world and knowing the joy it can bring to all even through the darkest times.

I use a combination of my tried and trusted Fender Squier 50's Vibe Beach Blonde Telecaster guitar, my recent lucky find of a perfectly good Westfield Stratocaster copy, my Tanglewood semi-acoustic guitar, my Ovation Ukulele and a rather cheap and cheerful USB keyboard recorded directly on to GarageBand on my iPad via the iRig and Zoom Multi-stomp Bluetooth peddles. I have now added the brand new Zivix Jamstik+ to my instrument collection which is great instrument for adding depth, power and orchestration to my new recordings. I have now added my brand new Fender Kingman SCE Acoustic Bass Guitar to the mix.

My only rule for making music is that I give myself just 2-3 hours from conception, to recording, to mixing and editing the song before posting to Soundcloud. Please forgive me if some of my recordings are a bit sloppy and too short!

I suspect you all wonder why I play mostly reflective tunes. That may be due to the fact I seem to major at the minor chord?

I like to thank all the people who have stumbled on to my humble music, left kind encouraging comments and liked my offerings. Soundcloud is a wonderful place to meet like-minded people and rejoice in the spirit of a world family who all share the same musical values.
