Wexcast is back!

For the 7th edition we invited Sherman C, the man in charge of running Selector Records in Seattle. 
A diggers delight based in the northern west coast of the USA. 
The shop is constantly recycling the plastic that we treasure ever so much. Sherman is vigorously sifting through collections to make sure the shop is souped up with the freshest digs. 

Sherman has also released on the Telomere Plastic series.
With a Bubbly tune on the first Telomere, Telomere 00, a stellar 5 track EP on Telomere 003, and another whacky tune on the most recent Telomere 020.3 VA.

Plus, we are cooking up another EP which will be released next year on the new Wex sublabel, @chitchatwex.

There’s something truly special about the stripped-back sound of Flores—in effortless fashion, the character spins complex emotion quite simply, embodying the essence of minimal music through his curiosity and presence. Initially inspired by “the art of beautiful long groovy blends”.

With minimal, we ask the question of what this music is ABOUT, exactly… and in proper enigmatic style, the answer is quite simply: “this music is about itself”. Flores weaves in and out of electronic sounds of the subconscious, clicking along in vacant dark boxes, painting pictures out of sonic-light and spooky repressed emotion with an impeccable sense of groove. The music chosen speaks with clever precision about what it means to live in pleasure, to live in curiosity, to create wonder.

“Seek pleasure… over… matter,” Flores says succinctly during interview. He was short-spoken, in the suit of minimal music —he associates his sound with the “minimal aesthetic”, with suggestions of “space exploration”, whether that be in the outer cosmic void or the inner space of the individual. “Experimental discovery” is another value he mentions, being something interactive for both the DJ and the dancer to revel in.

“Job of DJ is to bring the vibe. Allowing everyone attending the party to let go, have fun and be curiously free!”

Flores is founder of an artist residency in Seattle called p|M (pleasure over matter), which listens in on just that.

Wrapping up the interview, we asked about challenges that artists as individuals come up against, and how it relates to general life. Flores responds, grounded: “Adequacy comes within. Mirroring false identity. Only without, we are.”
