OVERVIEW:
The world of M_Rec refocuses on unassuming and dedicated dancefloor tracks with this release on the original Ltd. imprint by british producer and sound engineer Coefficient. Steering away from the saturated world of big and harsh techno, Coefficient concentrates on the craft of reviving and re-exploring archetypical mind-altering techno, rooted halfway between the American midwest and the heyday of british rave culture.

The opening 'Subsurface' takes advantage of a groovy refrain to showcase uplifting drum programming and shadowy soundscapes. A great set opener to put the room in the right mindset. Things get a little darker with 'Tesseract'. While the intricate patterns and basslines play the integral part in the track, there are intriguing melodies interplaying to make things sexier and affectively trippy. 
On the flip side, EP title track 'Blood Red' is a more maximal experiment, definitely meant to shake things up. Throughout this joint the synths get bigger and state-inducing, while the bass drum keeps things forward driving. It's a traditional loop-driven track that belongs in the apex of a proper techno set. Closing track 'Point of Departure' rediscovers British leftfield electronica and celebrates the early morning hours of outdoor raves. It's a track dedicated to the last few people standing, rich of melody and delays.


M_Rec Ltd 20 - Coefficient - Blood Red ep

Leftroom Limited turn to long time associate Inxec and Mark Jenkyns for its next release, which is yet again a freaky bit of inventive late night tech with ghoulish charm and shadow intentions. The two originals come backed with typically excellent remixes from master of the night Konrad Black and Canadian Hrdvsion.

As an ever rising talent with an ability not yet fully blossomed, Inxec produces music from his beloved house right through to heart breaking, thought inspiring mood sections for national radio plays in Germany. Meanwhile, Mark Jenkyns’ natural understanding of the dancefloor coupled with his impulsive methods to spark it into action have enabled him to garner a reputation as both a forward thinking producer and immersive DJ releasing on labels like Hot Creations.

The first track the pair turn out is ‘Broken Wings’, a slinky bit of tech with rooted, hard hitting kicks and engaging percussive clicks. A filtered vocal speaks about phenomenal outrage and gurgling synths always bubble up through the mix. Then an acid line appears next to the pixelated chords and the track really takes off, as will the roof of the right club whenever this one gets deployed.

Two on point remixes then tackle the track: Konrad Black – of labels like Culprit, City Fox and M_nus – layers in plenty of bleepy, blurting synth sounds as he threads his minimal grooves through a freaky filter. Dark, weird and heady, it’s prime afterparty material.

Wagon Repair and Rinse associated Hrdvision is next with his sinewy, synthetic and hugely orchestrated remix. Acid lines, sharp synths, rueful pads and more all form a network of lines that drag you ever deeper into their core.

Inxec & Mark Jenkyns then team up again to round out the EP with ‘Ride It’, This one is another spangled bit of raw machine music with loose, spraying synths, thick basslines and alien life forms all scurrying around a hunched over groove that makes it perfect for dark and druggy backrooms.

Once again here Matt Tolfrey’s Leftroom Limited label has come up with the goods.

With a hectic worldwide touring schedule and the completion of their debut Flying Circus Ibiza residency @ Sankeys, studio time was scarce for the boys.  In the few weeks they had back home in Barcelona, Anthony and Luca put their heart and soul into the creation of the Excuse My Wilderness EP. A process that took over 6 months to complete. Originally released by Musical Freedom, the instrumental edit of 19-year-old Oliver Heldens’ deep house smash ‘Gecko’ has become a staple in club sets for 2014, peaking at #2 in the Beatport chart and garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Zane Lowe. 

The latest edit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, written and vocalled by Becky Hill during a late night recording session with MNEK, is being released by Parlophone’s vital new dance imprint FFRR. Initially written for another vocalist, Becky’s towering vocal on Gecko’s chorus was deemed the perfect fit and has already been coined the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Zane Lowe.

Recondite marks his return to Hotflush with the epic, potentially summer-defining 'Caldera' and a sequel to his 2012 hit 'DRGN'. The Bavarian artist has undergone a dazzling rise since that time, and one which is reflected in the increasing opulence of his music.

'Caldera', with its dramatic arpeggios and crescendos, is unabashed big-field decadence. Bearing all the hallmarks on which he's made his name - space, subtlety, build, attention to timbre - over the course of 9 minutes it raises the temperature to white heat. 'DRGN 2' picks up exactly where its 2012 namesake left off; that is, with an arching melody played out over droning tones of insidious intent. Dark, imposing and elegant - this is Recondite at his most wicked.

The Leftroom imprint has built up quite the impressive roster in recent years with the likes of DJ Bone, Jay Haze and Steve Lawler making the imprint a home for their output and here it continues its Extended Family series, which has featured the likes of Blakkat, H-Foundation and Laura Jones previously. This time round the label shines some light on some of Leftroom’s core acts for the future, namely Desolat’s Hector, Let’s Play House’s Montel, and two up and coming talents, Marcman and Neil Parkes.

Opening up the release is Hector’s ‘A Clown Called Snapper’, which is featured on Leftroom boss Matt Tolfrey’s fabric 81 mix compilation, the Mexican artist delivers his signature percussion-led style with a seven and a half minute bumpy workout. Montel’s ‘Control’ follows and lays the focus on shuffling rhythms, sweeping synth stabs and a hooky vocal uttering the track title.

On the flip side Romania’s Marcman provides another drum-led number, laid out over eight minutes with crunchy percussion, tension building strings and a wandering bass hook, while Neil Parkes follows up his ‘Me & You’ EP on Leftroom Ltd with ‘Come Back’ to round things off, providing an up- tempo hypnotic cut fuelled by processed vocal chops, warbling synths and chuggy bass licks.

The ‘Extended Family Part 4’ package is out on Leftroom 20th April 2015.

Florian Meindl is a multi-talented and multi-faceted artist, who is renowned for his technical
prowess.
Producing for over fourteen years, Florian has become known for his deep, grooving powerful
techno. His productions are characterised by his love of analog, which represent his true signature
sound.
2006 saw the inception of Florian’s label FLASH Recordings. The label showcases Florian’s musical
vision, reflects his taste and gives him tracks for his DJ Mixes. A platform for artists that Florian
likes, FLASH has had over 130 releases already including tracks from Heron, Electric Rescue, Jamie
Anderson, Alignment, Hans Bouffmyhre & Avgusto.
In May 2015 Florian released his second solo album ‘Collide’ to critical acclaim. The album was
clearly influenced by Florian’s transition from producing almost entirely digitally for thirteen years
to recording mainly analog jamming sessions and editing the end results after on the computer. The
technical aspect is integral to Florian’s musical journey that he takes the listener on. His talent lies
in enabling the machines to speak and groove, to connect with them and create sounds and
patterns.
In addition to solo releases and numerous collaborations with international artists, and remixing the
likes of Hot Chip & Royksopp, Florian is busy with his sound design brand Riemann Kollektion and
Riemann Modular which is his new studio gear company specializing in Eurorack Modules.
As a DJ, live performer, studio producer and sound designer, Florian has over the years established
an impressive producing base for himself in his Berlin based Riverside Studio complex with an
exciting hardware set up including Modular Systems, an analog mixing desk as well as classic
machines like Roland 909.
After fourteen years of international performances and production, Florian has developed a special
connection with his analog equipment, letting them speak for him in music where words just aren’t
possible. His third album will be released in February 2017 in combination with a worldwide full
analog live act tour.
