Release Info: 
The next release from OC & Verde comes in the form of a 2 track EP, namely ‘Navajo' a driving slice of melodic tech that builds on the spirit of their Knee Deep in Sound anthem Maasai. Together with ‘Mañana' that mixes an hypnotic piano with deep driving moroder inspired synth part to create their trademark fusion sound. 

It was Solomun that kick started things for their first release of 2017, playing their track “Solstice” after he was sent some of their unreleased material, before long, videos were appearing from the BPM festival of him playing the track and then it secured a space on Steve Lawler’s release schedule for Viva Music. Fast forward to the recent Ibiza opening parties and their music is already being supported by the Adam Beyer, who closed the Cocoon opening party at Amnesia Ibiza with Solstice and Steve Lawler who played both Navajo and Solstice at the Ants opening at Ushuaia Ibiza

PREMIERE: OC & Verde - Mañana (Original Mix) [iVAV]

In the spring of 2017 Doza (Carlos Mendoza) was combing the the beach of Inapupan, a small island in the Philippines, when he saw something both strange and familiar: a weathered bit of shell peaking out of the sand with orange and ivory tiger stripes. He recognized it as the armor of a nautilus, one of the planet's oldest and deepest-diving animals. He held it in his hand, imagining the bioluminescent monsters it’s creator might have witnessed during its dark, cold dives. “Nautilus” is a latin word derived from the ancient greek “nautilo” meaning “sailor.” A sailor himself, Doza arrived home inspired to soundtrack this creature’s funky nautical journey. 

Electronic musicians today have access to a vast ocean of sounds from soft-synths, soft-samplers, mobile apps, boutique hardware and modular synths. When Doza began making music in the late 90s as half of LawnChair Generals (with Peter Christianson), the equipment available was expensive and cumbersome by today’s standard. In a way those limitations were a blessing in that they forced the Generals to extract as much function and creativity out of each piece of equipment as possible, and to learn their instruments inside and out. 

To stay focused on The Nautilus, Doza eschewed soft-synths and complicated outboard set-ups for the sounds from one of his first pieces of equipment, the PC2x. This tank-like stage keyboard was created in 2001 by Kurzweil Music Systems, a company founded by renowned futurist Raymond Kurzweil and Stevie Wonder (yes, that Stevie Wonder).

Although short on sounds relative to other larger keyboards of the time, the PC2x has the famous Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology (V.A.S.T.) and, in the hands of a tinkerer, is capable of morphing, organic, other-worldly tones. The result of this self-limited production technique applied to the deep-sea daydream is The Nautilus, an immersive dance floor voyage complete with evolving drones, pitching and swelling textures, and growling encounters in a swirled up auditory expanse. All of this sits atop a disco-tech structure and latin battery that is vintage Doza, supporting a locomotive synth bassline that dives and rises again like the intrepid little creature of the deep that inspired it.

Florian Meindl is a multi-talented and multi-faceted artist, who is renowned for his technical
prowess.
Producing for over fourteen years, Florian has become known for his deep, grooving powerful
techno. His productions are characterised by his love of analog, which represent his true signature
sound.
2006 saw the inception of Florian’s label FLASH Recordings. The label showcases Florian’s musical
vision, reflects his taste and gives him tracks for his DJ Mixes. A platform for artists that Florian
likes, FLASH has had over 130 releases already including tracks from Heron, Electric Rescue, Jamie
Anderson, Alignment, Hans Bouffmyhre & Avgusto.
In May 2015 Florian released his second solo album ‘Collide’ to critical acclaim. The album was
clearly influenced by Florian’s transition from producing almost entirely digitally for thirteen years
to recording mainly analog jamming sessions and editing the end results after on the computer. The
technical aspect is integral to Florian’s musical journey that he takes the listener on. His talent lies
in enabling the machines to speak and groove, to connect with them and create sounds and
patterns.
In addition to solo releases and numerous collaborations with international artists, and remixing the
likes of Hot Chip & Royksopp, Florian is busy with his sound design brand Riemann Kollektion and
Riemann Modular which is his new studio gear company specializing in Eurorack Modules.
As a DJ, live performer, studio producer and sound designer, Florian has over the years established
an impressive producing base for himself in his Berlin based Riverside Studio complex with an
exciting hardware set up including Modular Systems, an analog mixing desk as well as classic
machines like Roland 909.
After fourteen years of international performances and production, Florian has developed a special
connection with his analog equipment, letting them speak for him in music where words just aren’t
possible. His third album will be released in February 2017 in combination with a worldwide full
analog live act tour.
