While we’re less sure about who/what Momios is and why they/it should be fought, the acid and jazz parts of our premiere are self-evident. Fighting Momios With Acid And Jazz is the B1 cut from the upcoming second release of Leicester label, Flat White. Bogota’s Felipe Gordon is the artist behind the record that encompasses a lot of what we like at Bolting Bits: flavours of house, disco, techno and interesting blends of samples and original instrumentation.

The "Deep Fried Banana" EP is a five-tracker featuring a remix from The Last Trip To Gandahar, whose work we’ve premiered before. There isn’t a track we wouldn’t buy on this record, but our premiere is the stand out for us. While the percussive elements cut in and out, dusty-sounding jazz piano samples and a looped acid synth-line staple this track almost all the way through. It’s one of those pieces of music that feel like every part is completely intentional – even the rough bits are supposed to be rough. Felipe Gordon has built an impressive resume for himself recently, with releases on London’s Quintessentials and Berlin’s Toy Tonics, and we’re happy we can play a part in getting the word out on this guy, because his future looks bright. Emerging British producer Joe Corti is a man on a roll right now. Having recently completed his first US tour, the London­born musician is now set to release the debut release from his new label, China White. A four ­track EP that’s notable for its dancefloor prowess and undoubted charm, the label’s inaugural release into the mind of a very special talent indeed.

The release opens up with our premiere, ‘My Baby’, a breezy, soul­inspired dancefloor cut of the sort that’s sure to induce many a smile. A feel­good party anthem that’s arrived just in time for summer, it marks an auspicious start to an altogether killer package. ‘Half Moon’ ups the ante even further, this time via a rambunctious, baseline led anthem with intentions that are firmly switched towards the floor. Further indication of the producer’s knack for unearthing a clever sample, it’s a peak­time flavoured cut that’s sure to go down a treat.

Opening up the B side is the sounds of ‘Hollywood Arms’. This time, Corti brings things toward deeper territory, with the end result being a track that veers between the eerie and the melancholy but also shows off the deep range that makes up his production arsenal. The most banging of the tracks comes last in the shape of ‘Without You’. A heavy cut featuring clever vocal samples that weave in and out, its soulful edge help lend it a unique charm that forces parallels with Honey Dijon at her best and is sure to prove a hit with discerning DJs from both the house and techno side of the spectrum. An all­round thrilling EP that’s never lacking in personality, Corti’s latest truly is a joy to behold.
