Put up the bunting and bring out the birthday cake, Clarisse has hit 50 and is marking the occasion in true style with an unflinching piece of hearty tribal house that the label has nailed to its mast time after time. Leading the labels half-century celebrations is Dario D'Attis, the Italian also known as The Funk Ensemble who has repped Switzerlands Purple Tracks/Purple Music, as well as A-grade labels Hive and Nervous in a career on wax that stretches back before the Millennium.

Here with one of Clarisses leading vibe stylists in Yvan Genkins, who has done much to help Clarisse tot up its milestone, Afro Call chugs like a non-stop cross-country train with an infinite tank of gas, full of thirsty clubbers ready for fiesta. Full of pots and pans percussion taking it to the streets, the duo provide an authentic open air feel bound to create one long human traffic jam, its pistons greased with the vocal echoes of classic chanters such as the Gypsymens Babarabatiri.

Secondcity is Rowan Harrington, who comes to the party with Chicago in his blood, an Ibizan residency at Sankeys Tribal Sessions to his name, and already knowing a thing or two about the Clarisse brand from remixing label boss Mendo's Magic this year. Not to mention a rework of Carl Cox, collaborating with chart-topper Route94 and the small matter of his goodtime piano groover I Wanna Feel blowing away 2014.

His remix of Afro Call manages to be both deep and flexible, making splashes with a bassline both flowing and muddy. Fast-paced yet always in control as if hes skimming through a foam party, he carries over the originals eyes-on-the-prize vibe and turns the pattering of skins throughout into a bubbly lather, roaring into a finale that ups the Samba-tinted shimmying in a jiffy.

Prunk is what you call a busy bee. With a packed agenda, producing music, setting up his label PIV and organizing PIV club nights, you wonder if this guy still has time to sleep.
He is a resident DJ for major Dutch festivals DGTL and Straf_Werk while also being a part of the Deep House Amsterdam crew. His PIV club nights at Chicago Social Club and De Marktkantine are always packed and he also fids time to do one-off PIV nights on Malta too. 
His label PIV records has been up and running since 2015 and has seen a steady flow of releases since. Artists like Roland Nights, Chris Stussy and Yusuke Yamamoto have all released on Prunk’s imprint. And there’s more releases coming up in 2016. 
If this weren’t enough Prunk also released ‘The Machine’, together with Chris Stussy, on New York’s notorious label ‘Nervous Records’, an EP on ‘Moulton’ and an EP on London based ‘Innercity Records’. After hearing Prunk’s tracks, singer Alex Mills (known for the vocals on Miguel Campbell’s ‘Baby I Got It’) contacted him. They are in the studio working on a track as we speak. Recent additions to his discography are: a release on Electronique, City Soul and a remix by ben Pearce on King Street Sounds. 
In the past two years, Prunk has been a firm fixture at all the leading festivals in The Netherlands. While he also enjoyed playing international gigs in Ibiza (Space), New York, Russia, Spain, Brazil, Amman and Belgium.  Make sure to catch Prunk at one of these places.

Next in our DJ Mix series is a young talent from Bulgaria, Philip Chernikov. Philip’s interest in electronic music came at the age of 14, when he started listening to DJs like Danny Tenaglia and Victor Calderone. Due to growing up in a small city, where electronic music doesn’t have a strong presence, he soon started partying in bigger cities nearby, where he was discovering the magic and diversity of the electronic music world. Fascinated by the music, the DJ culture, and curious about how it all happens, he started learning how to use DJ-software and after years of hard work it finally paid off.
Nowadays, Philip Chernikov is a resident of the biggest and most renowned club in Bulgaria, Yalta club. He was selected through a DJ contest organized by Yalta, where he played with long-time residents Liubo Ursiny and Valdy. That night not only secured him residency, but brought to life a very successful idea, Takeover.
Takeover is a collaboration project between the three residents – Philip, Liubo, and Valdy. From their fist meeting behind the decks, they clicked perfectly and knew that something bigger can come out of it. The talented trio wanted to bring new, fresh and quality music to the nightlife of Sofia, where Yalta is based, as well as respected guest DJs from the scene and unforgettable experiences at unusual locations besides Yalta. So far Takeover has hosted some of the scene’s finest like Dixon, Nick Curly, Tiga and Martin Buttrich Due to the huge success, Takeover took the next step with taking over some of the other great clubs around the country. The highlights from the latest successful Takeover season include Bella Saris, Dyed Soundorom, and Enzo Siragusa.
Yalta club is also responsible for the summer festivals in Bulgaria hosted at the coast of the Black Sea. As a resident, Philip took part in their latest edition of Solar Summer 2014 at Cacao Beach, where he played alongside Jamie Jones, Victor Calderone, and his biggest inspiration Marco Carola, as he did in 2015 as well. This summer, he will reside at Cacao again and you can enjoy his tunes on the 5th of August, shortly before Dubfire's live hybrid show, and later on on the 19th of August warming up for the ultimate techno couple, Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg.

From an early age he developed a strong passion for electronic music. For the last 8 years, Oli has been the driving force behind launching his own label – Melotherapy Records, for the freedom of expressing feelings, emotions and ideas in his own productions.

DJ Mix #436 - Olivian Nour

Few could have predicted a meteoric rise up the ladder for Austria's 2016 BURN Residency finalist Ayman Awad.

It all started with quiet self-confidence living in Egypt. Shrugging off jeers and doubts from friends about the potential career path, in 1997 Ayman's dream blossomed after picking up his first DJ Mag. The iconic Carl Cox, then then voted as the world's Number 1 DJ, turned out to be the man of inspiration, giving Ayman an incentive to further his hopes of stardom.
Three years of living and travelling Egypt, at the turn of the millennium Ayman moved to Austria in what proved to be fruitful. He gained success playing at many different clubs and events but had an unignorable desire for the glory of the industry's destiny, with eyes firmly fixed on the White Island. 

Fast forward to 2016, and the Austrian is living testament in pursuing a lifelong goal with hard work. Quickly flying through the competition's bootcamp, Ayman found his efforts rewarded and his eyes starstruck with the London DJ Carl Cox being his mentor at this years Ibiza's BURN Residency competition.

Here's the story so far by the man himself:

“Ibiza is the Mecca of Electronic music, you get inspired and you listen to a lot of different styles.
DJs from all over the world come to Ibiza to experience the coming together of many nationalities on one dance floor. I feel this is the true spirit of Ibiza and and a major factor on why I decided to be in this years competition.
I'm so thrilled to have this amazing opportunity. So many unforgettable  things have happened over the last 5 weeks. Each day we've learned from the very best, talking to key DJs, producers, club owners, managers and more in the industry.

In our lectures and master classes, we gained all the vital information every DJ should know from the very best, lectures with John Digweed, Carl Cox, Miguel Campbell, Jamal Edwards, Uner, Nick Curly, Darius Syrossian, Tony Andrew, Yann Pissenem, David Vincent and more.

After the announcing the 3 finalists of the competition and I'm one from the lucky 3. My dream is now becoming a reality, and I have to pinch myself when I'm playing at picturesque locations such as Cafe Mambo.
I'm so excited to be apart of Savanna and Sankeys, with gigs at rocking Thursday nights at Privilege with Solid Groozes. We also broadcast our weekly radio show every Wedneday at Ibiza Sonica.

Promising times are ahead for this star, with the vision of becoming an Ibiza Resident almost on his fingertips.
