2015 saw Damian Lazarus create his most ambitious project to date in The Ancient Moons, producing a full length album ‘Message From The Other Side’ with a wide assortment of vocalists and collaborators from around the world. They went on to support Roisin Murphy on tour, gain acclaim from the likes of Dazed & Confused and Lazarus became the final coverstar of the year in the UK”s Mixmag magazine.

Now the tracks from ‘The Other Side’ have been reinterpreted by an assortment of stars, from techno stalwarts Juan Atkins & Kimyon Huggins, to German experimental talent Kölsch, and Acid Pauli’s sprawling fusion of weirdness. The original material is ploughed in new and surprising directions by Black Butter’s own Gorgon City and Mehmet Asian, resident at Berlin’s infamous Wilde Renate club.

Talent from Lazarus’ label Crosstown Rebels, including Francesca Lombardo, DrumTalk and Israeli trio Red Axes also produce their own visions for the music, all of which retain the mysticism of the original with added dancefloor appeal. The final four tracks revisit some of the biggest moments from the Moons to date, as the album revisits interpretations from Jamie Jones, Dixon, Serge Devant and &Me.

Co-produced by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence & The Machine), The Ancient Moons was always a unique project, which has now been stretched to include the flavours of some of the most exciting artists shaping the musical landscape right now.

Recorded in Mexico, LA and London, ‘The Other Side’ features instrumentalists from Mozambique, Guinea, Pakistan, Egypt, America and even Mexico’s own Yucatan Symphony Orchestra.

With its wavy melody and muted vocals courtesy of Ali Love, the track effortlessly cuts through the sounds house sounds of today to lay down a triumphant, classic sounding record.

Premiere: Serge Devant - Always On My Mind

After reaching critical acclaim on their third studio album, Colour Theory, the Polish duo Catz 'N Dogz has rounded up an intimidating list of remixers to go to town on their body of bits. Recognized for mining the middle ground between house and disco, Jay Shepheard sets his sights on the languid groover, “Stay, and takes it up a notch. Lending the hushed vocals a nice bed of sauntering basslines and gauzy chord stabs to roll around in, his remix is an obvious highlight here.

Track of the Day: Catz ‘N Dogz “Stay” (Jay Shepheard Remix)

Prunk is what you call a busy bee. With a packed agenda, producing music, setting up his label PIV and organizing PIV club nights, you wonder if this guy still has time to sleep.
He is a resident DJ for major Dutch festivals DGTL and Straf_Werk while also being a part of the Deep House Amsterdam crew. His PIV club nights at Chicago Social Club and De Marktkantine are always packed and he also fids time to do one-off PIV nights on Malta too. 
His label PIV records has been up and running since 2015 and has seen a steady flow of releases since. Artists like Roland Nights, Chris Stussy and Yusuke Yamamoto have all released on Prunk’s imprint. And there’s more releases coming up in 2016. 
If this weren’t enough Prunk also released ‘The Machine’, together with Chris Stussy, on New York’s notorious label ‘Nervous Records’, an EP on ‘Moulton’ and an EP on London based ‘Innercity Records’. After hearing Prunk’s tracks, singer Alex Mills (known for the vocals on Miguel Campbell’s ‘Baby I Got It’) contacted him. They are in the studio working on a track as we speak. Recent additions to his discography are: a release on Electronique, City Soul and a remix by ben Pearce on King Street Sounds. 
In the past two years, Prunk has been a firm fixture at all the leading festivals in The Netherlands. While he also enjoyed playing international gigs in Ibiza (Space), New York, Russia, Spain, Brazil, Amman and Belgium.  Make sure to catch Prunk at one of these places.
