Timber Timbre shares an alternate version of "Curtains?!" from 'Hot Dreams', featuring the haunting vocals of Fiver, solo project of Toronto singer-songwriter Simone Schmidt, also known for fronting The Highest Order. Timber Timbre offers some insight on the gestation of "Curtains?!", which Schmidt co-wrote with the band, ahead of Fiver's supporting slot on the upcoming Timber Timbre US tour. Details below.

""Curtains?!" is nearest to a rock song that the band has ever recorded up to date. When we were creating the bed tracks, we thought we were doing something in the world of German kraut rock band Can, but Graham Lessard, our sound engineer, made the reference to Lalo Schifrin's soundtrack for Dirty Harry. Simone Schmidt of Fiver composed the lyrics about a man's fallen career and his double life exposed."

We welcome Anastasiya Kazantseva a.k.a pumbum, for the sixty-fourth edition of the 'Deep In Mix' series. Pumbum hails from Krasnodar, Russia, and is currently based in Moscow. The inception of her musical odyssey can be traced back to an encounter with the mesmerizing sounds of electronic music during a friend's return from ABGT 200 in Amsterdam. Little did she know, this moment would become the catalyst for a transformative passion that would shape her future.

Her love for crafting melodies started at a young age, graduating from piano school and participating in choirs and competitions. However, it was the electronic music that truly captured her imagination. The pivotal experience at ABGT 300 in Hong Kong marked a before-and-after moment in her life, igniting a fervour for electronic music that couldn't be extinguished. In the face of the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Anastasiya seized the opportunity to dive deeper into her newfound passion. Enrolling in a course led by PROFF (Vladimir Ershov), she honed her skills in electronic music production. What started as a personal exploration soon evolved into a desire to share her creations with the world, leading her to embrace the role of a DJ.

Anastasiya's musical preferences reflect a diverse range, with a particular fondness for Organic House infused with Progressive influences, alongside Afro, Melodic, and Deep House. She has received support from artists like PROFF, Alexey Sonar, Armen Miran, RIGOONI, Christian Monique, Tvardovsky, Ruben Karapetyan, Maxxim, etc. Her forthcoming Organic House track titled "Leo" is set to be released under the Where The Shadow Ends label. It's a noteworthy inclusion in the 'Autumn Serenades' compilation on one of her favourite labels. Additionally, her experimental remix of Baud Rate's "Brownstone Summer" on the Sumer Melody label, originally a nu-house track, unexpectedly emerged as one of her standout works. Further showcasing her versatility, pumbum collaborates with Studio Deep, Maxim Zatonski, Nastine, and Cafe De Anatolia on the track "Harmony" slated for release under the Cafe De Anatolia label.

As Anastasiya continues to carve her path in the electronic music scene, her creative journey promises to be a captivating symphony of melodies that resonate with audiences around the globe. Keep an ear out for pumbum, a name set to make waves in the ever-evolving world of electronic music. She encourages the listeners to take a moment to unwind and let their mind drift away to the soothing power of good music.

wie könnte ich etwas beschreiben, das mit worten nicht zu fassen ist? mein festivaldebüt, die schwerelosigkeit, das abtauchen. die liebe, mit der das @mitdirfestival gestaltet wurde. die lieben gesichter, die in scheinbar zufälligen mustern das festival erkundeten, um dann in völliger gleichmäßigkeit mit ihren körpern in den beat zu fallen. und ich mitten drin! wie ein rausch ist das wochenende an mir vorbeigezogen, von einem moment in den nächsten, wie ein daumenkino der realität.

2024 was a massive year for the duo. The pair launched their event series, FLOWFEST, a day to night party that celebrates expression, community with a pop of colour. However, 2025 is shaping up to be their most exciting year yet. Launching the year off with a signing through GET HARD Records and the release of their debut single, ‘Feel That’. With an upcoming EP and their festival debut, the pair are energised and motivated to bring their sound to every dance floor.
