Stillmatic is the 2nd piece of a three-part ‘poetic-triptych’ written by poet Anacaona Rocio Milagro, produced by Substantial, with Lizzie Blue on the piano, and cover art by Kenny Rivero. Titled after and honoring the 20 year anniversary of Nas’s album Stillmatic, the poet speaks of her favorite day: when her big brother, all the way from Washington Heights, deep in street life, stepped out and somehow found her in the Bronx during her undisclosed religious initiation ceremony just so they could listen to the entire Nas album together in his car the day it dropped—this is how he loves. They "Nodded their heads until their thorn crowns spun off… into glowing disks." The ‘poetic-triptych’s’ first piece is titled When You Were Red and describes losing a brother to street life, to then find him again in this piece Stillmatic, only to lose him again in the final piece titled Delirium (coming soon). Twenty years later, and it’s still the poet's favorite day.

Anacaona Rocio Milagro is a poet born and raised in New York City, Washington Heights. Writing poetry since the age of four and performing throughout her adolescence, she went on to hit the national stage with the Nuyorican Poets Café Slam team winning 2nd place in the National Poetry Slam Championship. She later earned an MFA in Poetry at NYU’s Low Residency program in Paris, an MPH at Columbia University, and a BA in Social Anthropology and Journalism/Creative Writing with a minor in Art from Baruch College/CUNY BA. Her Nine Eleven Poem has been added to the Smithsonian Museum’s 9/11 archives. Her poetry has been published in The BreakBeat Poets Latinext Anthology, Narrative Magazine, LittHub, and Raising Mothers, to name a few. Her father is from the Dominican Republic and her mother is from St. Thomas, The U.S. Virgin Islands. She is the single mother of two, Nirvana Sky and Zion.

German Jazz/Beat duo Pachakuti & young.vishnu are taking their joint project to new heights. Organically developing instrumental Hip-Hop into full-fledged orchestral Jazz and Groove, they create an excitingly eclectic blend of world music traditions. ‘Arjuna’s Fate’ (feat. Yami Maho) is the third single off their upcoming album ‘Dédalo’, to be released on April 29th digitally and on double-vinyl.

Pachakuti is a musician and producer with family roots in Colombia. He plays keys, tenor saxophone and clarinet. While living and working in Berlin, he draws inspiration from the natural world, investigative travels, and ancestral traditions of Latin America and beyond. His expressive and rhythmical playing and his instantaneous compositions are directed at the human core, arousing subtle experiences. While not being conformed to one style, it always invokes a sense of liveliness and depth to be delved in.

young.vishnu is a producer and DJ. He has studied philosophy and music in Hildesheim, Germany, which heavily influenced his views on meaning and mythology in music. In his DJ sets he selects and plays classic and contemporary Funk, Soul and Afrobeat. His practice as a DJ informs his work behind the boards directly, adding also more organic grooves and broader spectrum of musical styles to his in Hip-Hop based production.

If you had to put one single tag on their forthcoming album ‘Dédalo’, the best choice would be Jazz. That being said, Pachakuti and young.vishnu’s sound worlds might be better described in their own words: „We just make music and try to incorporate what we love about it“. They are musical freethinkers with shared interests in eastern philosophy and botany who interweave Hip-Hop, Latin and Funk with musical storytelling and world mythology.

Mixed and mastered by Roe Beardie at The Brewery Studios, Berlin. The artwork itself merges the visionary art of Mexican painter Sergio Chávez Hollar and the work of Carsten Pölking of the Nima Compositions Archive.

Pachakuti & young.vishnu signed with Melting Pot Music in 2020 and released their debut album ‘Semilla’ in the same year. Followed by a string of singles and EPs.
