A lovely haiku by a great female poet, Hashimoto Takako (1899-1963), inspired my improvisation (in D Dorian) this week. Played on Oliver Patrice Weder's excellent new 'The Pool Project' (Spitfire Audio). Recorded and mixed in Reaper, with Timeless2 added.

Some information about this track processing: it was processed with “ The Pulsar Echorec” VST, so it should sound more analog. the Echorec disk involving magnetic saturation and hysteresis…I wanted a warped warm sound so there will be areas on the track where there are dropouts coloring and artifacts. I love the way it adds grit musically. It’s basically an old fashion tape machine. In other word, it dirties up the track, and adds saturation and character…I love it!

Grit and Glory

My music is freely improvised, usually on VST synthesizers, sometimes fretless bass, guitar, occasionally electric viola or cello, with a variety of effects pedals. Solo music is performed live and recorded as 'FlownBlue'.  I am also in four improvising duos: 'Windfall Light' (with Jim Tetlow), 'Abstract Blue' (with Kevin Buckland), 'Light Fragments' (with Steve Escott), and Szukanie (with Michał Wojciechowski).
