Niki Sadeki is a self-taught, high-spirited creative, emboldened by the ideas, minds and sounds scattered in her midst. At the core of it all, a desire to connect people – be it through rhythm, events, or materializing projects. Niki also curates Souq Record’s glistening annual compilation, Mirror for the Sun. From her days expressing herself on the guitar, raiding her parents’ records, and exploring the worlds of grunge, jazz or psychedelic rock, and traditional Persian music, she’s carried over the knack for complementing dark and light frequencies, gliding in between without shying away from diving in. Niki travels with a spring in her steps, leaving her mark at spaces like Fusion Festival, Kater Blau, Village Underground Londong, Shelter Amsterdam, Woomoon Ibiza and Storytellers Tulum, The Cityfox Experience, Do Not Sit on the Furniture, and regularly at Gorg-O-Mish in her native Vancouver, where mountains, ocean and city converge. Her down to earth and steady love for sound has shaped a willingness to always adapt to the situation at hand, making the best out of it on a musical and a human level.

✔️ What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I started DJing at DIY squat parties in Halle 17 years ago. That shaped how I play: groove-driven but open to disruption, tension, and contrast. I’m drawn to Post-Punk, Electro, and New Wave’s rough edges, but also to the hypnotic structures of techno and house that allow you to stretch time.
I like artists who push emotional weight into their sets without relying on obvious formulas—who build a world where tracks that feel slightly wrong on their own suddenly make perfect sense.

✔️ What makes good “afterhour”?

A good afterhour isn’t just about playing slower or deeper in my opinion—it’s about shifting the focus. It’s where the night dissolves into something freer, where you can take risks, build tension, create strange moments that wouldn’t work at peak time.

For me, afterhours should feel fluid and unpredictable, and that’s what my track choices reflect. Some afterhours lean into warm, hypnotic grooves that pull people into a trance, others need sharp turns—unexpected elements that snap you out of autopilot. It depends on the space, the crowd, and the energy left in the room. But whatever the approach, a good afterhour should feel earned, not just like an endless loop.

✔️ Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I wanted the set to show different sides of what an afterhour can be—not just one mood stretched for hours, but the shifts, the tension, the looseness. It moved between hypnotic and high-energy, deep and disorienting, groove-heavy and abstract. Some tracks feel like a soft landing, others like a glitch in the matrix. Would I change anything? Probably. But afterhours aren’t about perfection—they’re about creating something that exists only in that moment. The best ones leave you unsure whether you've been dancing for 30 minutes or three hours. That’s the feeling I always try to create.

I am SO excited to share my set from Shipwrecked Festival with you today. Without a doubt the highlight of my last couple of months on tour and one of my favorite sets I’ve ever played 🫠

Sometimes everything just falls into place... 18.000km from home, the vibiest of all sunsets, surrounded by so many smiling faces, sandwiched in between some of my very best friends, the most insane curation from start to finish… I’m still speechless when I think of this weekend and all the joy that it brought me.

I’ve put quite some thought into this set and I think it all came together just right. I hope it brings you, my dear Kiwi’s, some heart warming memories of summer - and for my friends in the northern hemisphere, a little taste of what’s ahead of us 🌞

Playing at Mezcal Amores was an absolute dream come true. ✨
In Mitla, one hour from Oaxaca - mountains all around, an agave field straight out of a painting, with Olivia Steele’s glowing art installations and messages scattered across the landscape like guiding stars. A lineup full of artists I deeply admire. A production that left zero wishes unfulfilled. And a crowd that felt like home.
Honestly, it was a “pinch me” moment from start to finish. I’m endlessly grateful to have been part of this year’s Oaxaca Experience.
Deborah - the biggest thank you to you and your entire team of dv experiences for bringing us all together in such a magical way and making this weekend truly unforgettable.

I will remember this forever.

It only dawned on me only a few days before this gig at Sisyphos .. that it was actually quite a special one: Exactly 10 years ago, I played my first ever gig in Berlin. At Sisyphos. On the beach. And here I was.. From 2015 to 2025. Back to where it all started.. The set from back then is still somewhere on this soundcloud account :)

And as life sometimes doesn't like it when things get too perfectly aligned, a thunderstorm forced us inside to dance in the dampfer instead of the beach.. but I felt equally at home there and really loved every minute of my set. Felt in what I perceived as the essence of a flow state at times. Thank you to everyone who joined me and has been dancing with me for these past 10 years <3 

It's just been amazing to have shared so many moments in music together with so many people..

This mix is dedicated to all the great artists, the endless dancefloor moments, days of private hangouts and most of all, to the groove that keeps it all together. I have included some old and personal classics, fresh tracks, some of my own, some that I love to play and some I love, but don't necessarily always find a spot in my more high energy DJ gigs. I wanted to create a mix that works for any moment, reflects my love for all the fine-line genre differences whilst keeping the groove going at all times. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I had making it. This has been especially nourishing to create in this time where we are deprived of touring and the hours of mixing and playing for crowds. Franca is appreciated around the globe for her energetic, creative and groove-driven DJ sets. Playing on the fringes of techno and house, she is as tight on the controls as she is playful in her storytelling.
