Last year Franklin had the pleasure of interviewing Move D ahead of a Club Mick's party that never happened. They chatted about clubbing, techno, space and in particular, Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi masterpiece - ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. Franklin' accompanies the conversation with a selection of spaced-out ambience, deep house, and dubby techno, solely from David Moufang’s discography.

The music I chose for the set is a journey through my different styles and preferences that I like to combine in a long set.
Sometimes dark and demanding and sometimes trippy und playful. 
For my definition of DJing this is the challenge to tell a story with my music.

The last year was a caesura for the whole electronic music culture worldwide and I hope that we can experience our culture together again soon. 
It is so important and holds our society together and gives people courage and confidence in these difficult times.

For me personally I try to get something positive out of this situation by being in the studio as much as possible. In addition, I am currently building up a lot with our new club label Kiosk ID, which I run together with Mira, and last year we caused quite a stir with our compilations „Give ‚em a future & 43 Katzen tanzen auf’m Tisch“ to save our club Kater Blau in Berlin.

Für mein treuestes Groupie, wichtigste Kritikerin, motivierteste Tänzerin und beste Unterstützerin - meine einfach wundervollste Schwester!

Ohne sie gäbe es kueksen vielleicht gar nicht. Als ich 17 und partytechnisch jungfräulich war (abgesehen von EDM in schlechten, oberbayerischen Dorfdiskos), packte sie mich kurzerhand ein und lud mich mitten auf der Fusion wieder aus. Was soll ich sagen? Schon der Soundcheck der Triebwerke versetzte mich in Entzücken! Tiefe Bässe aus dicken Anlagen, verspielte Melodien aus allen Himmelsrichtungen und diese magische Stimmung – so ist damals das kueksen geschlüpft. 

Für diese Initialzündung und ihre treue Begleitung meines Weges seitdem, möchte ich mich nun einmal gründlichst bedanken! Daher diese Podcastreihe. #sistertapes halt....

For my most loyal groupie, most important critic, most motivated dancer and best supporter - my simply most wonderful sister!

Without her, kueksen might not even exist. When I was 17 and a party virgin (apart from EDM in bad, Upper Bavarian village discos), she unceremoniously packed me in and dropped me off again in the middle of Fusion. What can I say? Already the sound check of the soundsystems put me in delight! Deep basses from thick equipment, playful melodies from all directions and this magical atmosphere - that's how kueksen hatched back then.

For this initial spark and their faithful support of my way since then, I would like to thank now once thoroughly! Hence this podcast series. #sistertapes ....

We've been able get to know Patrice well over the past few years and it has made being part of sharing this piece of music even more special . For us this set was easily one of the best of the festival, setting the tone for one of the greatest blocks of music in Rainbow history with Michael Mayer, Petar Dundov, and Shlomo to follow.

History of October
October always had 31 days, and it became the tenth month of the year when the months of January and February were added, pushing October towards the end of the solar year, which is around 365.24 days long.

Fall and Spring Month
October is in the fall in the Northern Hemisphere, the month after the autumnal equinox. However, as seasons are opposite on either side of the equator, October is in the spring in the Southern Hemisphere. The seasonal equivalent is April in the opposite hemisphere.

- wie kam es dazu : Ich mir mal eine sogenannte bucket list gemacht, also Dinge die ich im Leben mal machen möchte, da hab ich drauf geschrieben, das ich einmal spielen möchte um zu wissen wie sich das anfühlt hinter den Decks. Zu meinem 33. Geburtstag hat ein Freund einen Gig für mich klar gemacht im Kater Kiosk quasi als Geburtstags Überraschung. Ich hatte da nur knapp 8 Wochen Zeit um mir das irgendwie selbst bei zu bringen. So hab ich mich jeden Tag an nen Mixer gestellt und hab probiert und geübt, hab Musik gesucht und hab sogar mir ein Notizbuch zugelegt und immer wenn ich dachte das Tracks gut zusammenpassen hab ich das notiert und mich quasi auf den Gig fast schon akademisch vorbereitet. Ich hab aber nicht gedacht dass ich nach diesem Gig irgendwie weitermachen würde. Hab nicht gedacht, dass ich da Chancen hätte. Doch irgendwie kam dann eins zum anderen und es kamen dann von verschiedenen Veranstaltern und Clubs Anfragen. Und ich hab mir gesagt, warum eigentlich nicht weitermachen, denn es macht mir einfach super viel Spaß und es ist für mich auf jeden Fall auch etwas was mich in meiner Entwicklung als Mensch viel gegeben hat und gibt.

3 QUESTIONS to MARIA DIE RUHE:

Q: Talking about your mix, your roots: How did these tracks influence your doings as an artist once?⁠

A: As an artist I am an abstruse but clear result of all these different influences from all kinds of music. Producing this mix really was a process I wouldn´t have expected. I am so grateful, since it made me travel through my whole life. I can say, now I even more understand how I´ve come to where I am now.⁠

Q: What did you do since the lockdown of a complete industry came last year?⁠

A: I decided to take the chance of using my time as good as I can – first I founded my own label RTTR (Reduced To The Root Records) - so now I can release whatever I want to, whenever I want to and also support other musicians with letting them release. Then I re-built my liveset, programmed everything anew, so now its much more creative than before, which is a challenge when you are working with song structures and voice. Also I do have more time for producing now, currently working on my first album to be released later in the year. ⁠

Q: Which future projects are you currently working on?⁠

A: Bringing the new tracks into my liveset once they are finished with the goal to be as creative on a future stage and have a s much fun with the people as possible. ⁠For hopefully new live shows as we love them - wild and free. Also I am part of fem*vak Leipzig (fe*male branch of vak - Vereinigung aller Kollektive, Leipzig). We are working on creating a more equal future for all of us human musicians and DJs. Furthermore I am planning a project which supports fe*male producers worldwide, being released in late 2021.

If I had to put it into words, maybe it would be a hint of departure. But for what and for whom? Although, it seems as if many things are coming to an end, I don't believe in that and I don't feel that either. Actually, as macabre as it may sound, I feel better than ever, but I can't say why and otherwise I always can.
I'm aware of how many people are living in fear, sorrow and sadness right now, so I keep asking myself, am I even allowed to feel this way? And I whisper it very softly, because I have also received it only as a whisper, 'yes you may'. Who is whispering there? Is it you world? Something is happening to us, to people, to the world, I don't know what, but I feel it's going to be good. And this feeling is still so drowsy, but I know it from somewhere for a very long time. It's like a loving mother kissing her child awake. It comes from my subconscious and it pushes gently and inexorably into my waking presence.
Out of this feeling, unconsciously at first, this set was born. It drives, because it stands for departure and in the end everything will be good.“

Our mission is to give a new outlet for creativity to the international electronic music industry through our intentional long format mix series. It invites the artist to create a magnum opus of a composition which will endure over the years due to discovery both through the artists profile and our profile. 

Flow Music’s mixes are designed to take the listener on an energetic journey, allowing each artist to express their full creativity and truly find their flow. 
3 hours and 33 minutes allows the artist to delve into realms they rarely explore to create the ultimate journey. It is also an opportunity for the listener to completely immerse themselves in the intricate complexity of their favourite artists.
