Spring is a season defined by hope, we’re emerging from a long winter spent indoors to the promise of this brighter season. It’s the promise of returning to warm nights spent dancing in starlight, and of embracing new and old friends after too many months spent apart, sheltering from the dark and cold.

But now the days are longer, and the city suddenly feels alive, humming away once again.

This spring, we’ve brought together new stories from talented musicians around the world for the third instalment of our Seasons series.

Each producer crafts a unique musical tapestry, often using thumping drums, beautiful synthetic melodies, and haunting vocal samples to capture the pure jubilation of spring and excitement for what lies ahead.

About the EP :
Keeping up a busy rate of release in their 18th year of operation, Moon Harbour welcome back regular artist Re.You and debutant Floyd Lavine for two collaborative tracks. Add in remixes from Daniel Stefanik and LAWLER, and you have another essential outing. 

Re.You is Marius Maier, who has contributed solo EPs and tracks to the Orbiter compilation dating back to 2014. He is now also in charge of his own Younion label and continues to be innovative with his edgy house and tech productions. Here he links with South African Floyd Lavine, a Rise Music associate who brings plenty of authentic tribal influences to his music, and often favours a chunky take on techno. 

The brilliantly bristling 'Humanity' opens things with a flurry of hand drums and rattling snares. They are a call to action that get your attention, then the rubbery drums really hook you in. Spine tingling percussion hangs in the air and gnarly bass fleshes out this loose, intoxicating track.

The remix of this one comes from VIVa label boss and long time tech house titan Steve Lawler, under his new shortened alias, LAWLER. He skillfully reworks the track into lots of bubbling loops, underpinned by bouncy drums and a distant drone that draws you in. It's a perfectly high energy cut for the peak of the night. 

The other original is 'Seamless', an intoxicating brew of moody bass, prickly drums and vocal riffs that cast a real spell. Synth drones and Afro chants join the mix to add to the intensity and the effect is to transport you deep into an involving dance. 

Tackling this one is Daniel Stefanik, a label stalwart and master of intricate productions. He reimagines it as a house track that grows in stature, with wordless vocals and sweeping filters lifting you up off your feet. Growing ever more wild, the track twists and turns with classic claps and clever effects that will always ensure it stands out. 

These are four hugely original tracks that offer something very different from the norm.

David Mayer & Floyd Lavine have previously released on the connected label as individuals but now they do so together on their own brilliant collaborative EP. A founding member of Keinemusik and prolific DJ and remixer, Mayer previously appeared on connected with a remix of ‘Lust’ as well as his solo Drained EP. South African Lavine, meanwhile, has also appeared remixing ‘L.D.O.E.’ after other outings on Dogmatik, Rise and Upon.You, and gigs at the likes of Watergate and Glastonbury. Stirring opener ‘Sondela’ feat. Xolisa is a beautiful, almost nomadic journey through pulsing beats, tense percussion and snatches of electrifying music. Together it evokes a celebration of earth, water and sun with dramatic percussive breakdowns and massive synth drones all topped with a powerful vocal urging the listener to ‘follow the Sound,’ maybe to the magical Sondela. It all makes for a truly a thrilling and compulsive ride. The masterfully atmospheric ‘XI’ is a deep, smokey and pulsing late night percussive dance floor thriller with mysterious synth lines. Bringing to mind urban dystopia, it is a steamy and intoxicating brew that will be a perfect call-to-action for the dance floor. Floyd Lavine then serves up a perfect Drumversion of ‘Sondela’ that is stripped down, emphasising the bare beats, percussion and vocal which create a real tribal atmosphere. The emotive journey then comes as an instrumental without vocals butfeaturing the same sense of hypnotism. Once again connected serve up unique and original house music with a wide sphere of worldly influences.

Premiere: Floyd Lavine - Kusimama ft. Awen [Rise Music]

youANDme has been pumping out genre-defining and genre-defying electronic dance music for over 10 years and has earned his reputation as top class producer and DJ. The Berlin resident returns to Poker Flat with a superb EP - Traveller - a collaboration with close friend and peer Tim Toh.

Raised in Southern Germany, now residing in Berlin, Tim Toh gained a reputation as exceptional DJ and vinyl enthusiast. His skills first came to the attention of Soulphiction and led to a series of releases on Philpot, followed by outings on labels like Ornaments, Freerange, Mild Pitch and many more.

The results of the collaborations are particularly engaging - four tracks of deep n' baked house music around the theme of movement. 'Voyager' starts the journey fittingly using the Moog Voyager synth as a starting point and building a driving, string-laden track, topped off with Lisa Toh's (Tim's sister) whispered vocals.

Next up comes 'Traveller', which boasts a fantastic 'Mastermix remix' from the Norwegian disco don Prins Thomas - a typically spaced out, dubby groove emerges taking all three original tracks of the EP into orbit at once.

'Passport' is another deep roller - smoked out beats are joined by a thick, subby bass and house organ chords that remind of classic Carl Craig or Theo Parrish moments.

'Excursions' winds up the EP, a subtle and emotional groover that eventually breaks down into the strings that begin the EP- a perfect trip.

An African nomad, Floyd Lavine mines inspiration wherever he goes. From the
vibrant musical scene of his homeland, drawing influence from local South
African Djs like Oskido, Vinny Da Vinci , to the heady East London party scene
during a six-year stint in the UK capital.
Moving to Berlin in 2016, he soaked up the vibes of the cityʼs world-leading
house and techno scene, but always went his own way establishing RISE, an
Afro House collective that staged monthly events at Watergate and across
Europe.
Floydʼs sound is the sum of his parts; cross-genre, with broad appeal; heʼs
played everywhere from CTM Festival, Panorama Bar and Black Coffeeʼs Ibiza
residency.

In 2021 sees Floyd launch his new imprint Afrikan Tales focusing on pushing
fresh new Afro future sounds
