For such a long time I wanted to work with Mister V. His output has been a major influence for me. Especially “Jus’ Dance” was a game changer. So I was very happy that the legend Mr. V himself joined in to collaborate on the 3rd Eye EP for our own imprint RISE MUSIC.

We started working on this piece about two years back, when the world was still quite different. DJT was still in charge (?!) in America and there was no pandemic around. Nevertheless Mr. V’s lyrics kept their magic, their timeless touch and somehow became even more relevant.
3rd Eye is about staying true to yourself, not getting overrun by the madness around you and about trying to make the world a better place.
No matter if it is about resisting autocratic, bigot and racist tendencies in the government or crazy conspiracy theories. We all carry responsibilities for the greater good of all of us. We do share the view that a crisis always also provides opportunities: For change and for the better.

My original version carries this tension that we all felt in the last years. The energy culminates in a nervous arpeggio and a catchy acidish hook on top of a quite classic house beat. After pushing you forward with grooves the tune turns into a string ladden ray of light.
The type of mood that we are all so desperately antcipating.
Everyone who’s not so much into spoken words will be happy to hear my stripped down Raw Beat Version. It is quite a bit more groove focused, powerful and with an overall feel that I like to call African Techno.

On top of that I am very happy to have Amsterdam’s William Djoko in the house for two amazing remixes. He delivered exactly his type of groove-laden house and rugged, motor-city techno (sprinkled with his famed frisky footwork of course) that I was hoping for. He is flirting with playful, cut for the club and trippy, mischievous percussions. Pure power!

Taking the release-portfolio into account, Rampa built over the last years on Keinemusik, him adding a new EP to the labels catalogue is worth every credit of trust. And this very “Trust” EP is living up to that not only by its name. It certainly offers value for money, considering KM-releases have mostly been two-trackers. There are four cuts on this one, each one following a different approach, making it also a hella versatile record.

It opens with the titeltrack, the floor-mantra within this bunch. A ruminant groove, backed by lifting and dropping notes, launching a catchy synth-figure and adding up synth-layers until all tension drops into a break that’s as curative as a talk therapy. A track that, out of unshakable serenity, unleashes an irresistible energy.

The following “Entropie” comes closest to what could be considered a Rampa classic. Percussive loops that are scooped up with even more banging and clanking – check. Lurking synthbass in the back – check. Vocalsamples with tribal descent – double check. Generally, you’ll find a whole lot of folklore in this rhythm rich affair, that continuously is jazzing up to highest ecstasy levels.

The flipside opens with “Defiled”, led by a prominent synthline, that’s going through various filter highs and lows and gets bludgeoned by some vigorously swung claps. Raw, naked floor material lacking any flourish, that seems to even fire up a jackhammer during the break.

“Headsup” is concluding this set. Triggering the smell of watered sidewalks, lit-up only by flickering neon light, immersed in the depths of delay, this latenight-story finds some redemption and warmth within the glow of its soulful vocal samples.

For the 27th JEUDI issue let’s welcome back one of the label headhonchos Doctor Dru. The “Savannah” EP is uniting his past as a drummer and his feel for hooky, layered arpeggios in a perfect manner. Dru’s tracks are always welcomed sureshots on the foor. His last contribution “The Pattern” stirred up the summer in Ibiza in 2015 and was played to death by major league artists like Solomun or Nic Fanciulli. This year his infamous remixes of D-nox & Beckers “Serenade” on JEUDI , Nico Stojans “BLUE HOUR” and Sailor &I’s “Letters” stirred up the festivals and foors around the world. We are sure this release will fnd his way in the playlist of many DJs as well.

The “Savannah” leads you in the wide of the african steppe merging multi layered arpish melodies into one fne percussion driven hypnotizing tune. Of course with never missing the hands up moment.

“Praerie” is featuring a little darker atmosphere but not less percussion driven. You’ll fnd Dru’s signature drone with trancy melody interjections. But the breakdown is what made the tracks name. Inspired by the west coast synth melodies of the late 70’s it comes suprisingly and with just the right power to make the crowd freak out.

&ME - In Your Eyes

It's been quite a wait for new &ME material here on Keinemusik. But these two new cuts, adding to our catalogue number KM046, sure have been worth waiting for. The EP starts with The Rapture Pt.II and as the title already suggests, it coherently takes up where his last original material had left us, in a stirred state of sweet, harmony-kissed affection. Known as a virtuoso of sound-details, &ME lives up to that reputation, implementing fine synth-elements and temperately rattling percussions, all conjoined by shimmering layers and, of course, an ultimately heart-melting Piano improvisation that at some point will play along to the rhythm of its synthetic brother to a finale that will leave no crowd untouched.

"Solaris" on the flipside adds indeed a futuristic note to the arrangement, opening up with a broken beat and propelling claps. A cut that, as much as its predecessor, is relying on flow and organic shifts rather than forced and peaktime formatted gimmickry, adding a synth arpeggio, white noise, vocal chants and harmonies in a rather subtle way. Nevertheless, it unfolds a compelling strength to heat the dancefloor gradually through its playtime.

An African nomad, Floyd Lavine mines inspiration wherever he goes. From the
vibrant musical scene of his homeland, drawing influence from local South
African Djs like Oskido, Vinny Da Vinci , to the heady East London party scene
during a six-year stint in the UK capital.
Moving to Berlin in 2016, he soaked up the vibes of the cityʼs world-leading
house and techno scene, but always went his own way establishing RISE, an
Afro House collective that staged monthly events at Watergate and across
Europe.
Floydʼs sound is the sum of his parts; cross-genre, with broad appeal; heʼs
played everywhere from CTM Festival, Panorama Bar and Black Coffeeʼs Ibiza
residency.

In 2021 sees Floyd launch his new imprint Afrikan Tales focusing on pushing
fresh new Afro future sounds
