white winter winds
grandmother mind
threading a string

scalpels for scholars
thimbles for thieves
beads for stockbrokers
trinkets for natives

pearl python heads
protruding from cliffs
silk spider threads
spun into screens

the nameless, the shameless
bound double bind
the hapless, the sirens
brutally kind

in the center she stood
