'Maps is the third LP from multi-instrumentalist Jerome Alexander, the man behind Message to Bears.

Following on from the success of Folding Leaves, Jerome has created something that encapsulates the folksy ambience of previous releases whilst adding an electronic dimension. Building layer upon layer, songs evolve with a fragile intensity. Vocal melodies are draped over string and guitar arrangements and end up soaring over them, at the same time lending a hook instantly recognisable as Message To Bears and blending harmoniously with the arrangement.

The overall result of Maps is something that is both startling and familiar. You are drawn in, given a map if you will, and invited on a musical journey that nods to Message to Bears' past but also leads to the future.'

Yooo, my 17th “Sunday is for Jam” session is out ! 👁️

I decided to change up the release pace and format a bit, less regularity, no pressure to film everything. The idea is just to keep the fun of playing music and sharing it in the simplest way possible :)

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with a setup that uses two loopers running simultaneously (one for rhythm/atmosphere and one for melodies) both routed through different sends.
For this jam, I plugged in my guitar, added a drum loop and a synth, I’ll probably keep refining the setup as I go :)

A side of my Loodma release with the wonderfully talented @lyllimusic, Out Now! 

We went pretty deep on this one, a lot of the percussion was recorded live and the main groove was created by tapping an acoustic guitar Andy McKee Style. 

Lylli hand drew the artwork (Unbelievable!).
The artwork is inspired by the words of my good buddy Jimmy and his beautifully written track description: 

"Rush - The precise order of things in nature. Rush’s variety of bleeps, knocks, taps and twitches breath life into a body rhythm, a pace, at which we follow undertone vocals unto a steady kick drum and the notes from a sombre bass. The track’s inner workings are exposed like cogs and gears underneath a watch face. Rush is a descant to verisimilitude, as well as a soundtrack of ecstasy. Homage to the natural world, from the electronic one. It begs to be mistaken for birdsong and tribal drum. Yet, it was borne between the 1’s and O’s, dashes and commands. Keystrokes of a machine masquerading as fine brushstroke of impressionist landscape. Above all else, Rush is special. Airy and light. Commanding and ordered. Ying and Yang. The metal wiring behind human flesh."

"I've been remixing songs by other artists since 2001 and it's something I always like to do. This year, in collaboration with the Flau label, I've decided to compile my favourite remixes and to release them on one CD. Most of the time, I like to transform very much the original songs. I try to bring them into my own musical atmosphere. For example, on Agoria's techno song "Heart Beating", I kept nearly nothing of the original music but I replaced it by orchestral parts that I had recorded with a 40-strings orchestra for the film by HR Boe "Beast". Anyway, I always want to keep faithful to the original melodies. On this selection of remixes, I kept the original vocal parts.
Some remixes are made out of songs that I've done myself ("Dernière Etape Avant le Silence", "A_") or with my band Arca with long-time collaborator Joan Cambon ("Attractions", which inspired the title of this EP as "Abstractions").
Those remixes are another side of my musical work that had never been compiled before."
