Slush Records are back for their second outing, remastering and rereleasing Sedona’s highly sought-after 1995 track, ‘Pulsation’. A portal to the underground of the ‘90s, Sedona’s original mixes and the remix from Robert Vaughan, fuse progressive house, trance and breakbeat, each oscillating to their own unique frequency. Not stopping there, Slush Records enlist the expertise of Seoul-born, Amsterdam-based Naone for a mesmerising new remix that harnesses all of that early ‘90s energy, with a fresh dynamism.

THE 12 MOONS OF IKUTARO

‘The 12 Moons of Ikutaro’, originally slated for release in 1993 tells the story of Shioi, a young girl who embarks on an intergalactic journey to avenge the death of her father.

Her journey takes her to the solar system of Ikutaro, where she must visit each moon to defeat the ‘Moon Boss’, and ultimately destroy the ‘System Controller’. Aided by her ‘Liquid Sound Device’ she undertakes the task journeying between the moons on her ‘Model JP8080’ and meets various friends and foes on the way.

The legendary Secretsundaze, now led solely by James Priestley, is set to embark on an exciting new chapter in 2024. He has taken the project into a more focussed club-leaning lane, reflecting his vision through fresh solo productions under the Secretsundaze moniker. 

As well as this Secretsundaze marks a new chapter in the institution’s storied history with the foundation of the new imprint 9FINITY (@9finity-hq). The label aims to run with this descriptor through no-nonsense, discerning dance records from artists at the vanguard of modern club music. 

Making a statement with its maiden release, is a vinyl only V/A compiled with the considered curation synonymous with the Secretsundaze name. 9FINITY001 brings together the talents of Eoin DJ, DJ Life, Luca Attanasio, Coffintexts and E-Talking across 5 tracks and digital bonus that act as a distillation of the label’s sonic vision. The debut release, 9FINITY001, is set to drop on September 19th.

In celebration of this milestone and in true Secretsundaze style is the announcement of the 9FINITY launch party at London’s iconic Pickle Factory on September 28th. The event welcomes E-Talking and club favorite Lora Mipsum to the pickle spaceship, alongside Secretsundaze for a night of heads down, hands up dance music. PREMIERE: DJ Life - Aberration [9FINITY]

DC Salas is a Belgian DJ/producer hailing from Brussels. Active on the Belgian and European nightlife for 14 years now, as a DJ, DC crafted his sound into something pretty diverse: house, new beat, 90’s wrong speeder or percussive beats, no boundaries. As a producer he released music on labels such as: Correspondant, River Rapid, TAU, B-Pitch Control, Kill The DJ and his own imprint Biologic Records.

AGT Records are back for number 008 and the smoke machine is on full blast. 

Christian Llopis put out a handful of releases in the early 2000’s, each capturing the progressive machine-groove of the time, but with his own signature twist and turn that made his sound stand apart from his contemporaries. The Lobster Tan EP, first released in 2005 on Play. Out. Right. Now. Recordings, shows off his unique style perfectly. 

Each track has its own distinct personality while maintaining a relentless momentum that throws each kick drum into the next. The title track ‘Lobster Tan’ has an almost elastic groove in the low end, balanced deftly with swirling samples and melody lines. ‘Simulation’ is a more heady offering, perfect for those late night/early morning moments where the heads are down and the lights are low. The mood is sinister, and its growling bassline and vocal samples barrel the tune forwards. Pick of the bunch is ‘Back in the Day’, a tribal roller that combines organic melody lines and pads with an ever-evolving bassline that will refresh any discerning dance floor back into life.

Llopis is an expert at keeping things subtle while moving the gears, and this release is a prime example of prog done right. We are happy to have this one back on the shelves, all in good time.

Mesdames et messieurs, la Hot Series est de retour. None other than our favorite baker Rick Baguette (@rickbaguette ) is next in our never-ending journey into the Hotbox universe. Co-founder of the infamous Hot Buns collective, Rick has been grooving his way across the country, even making the leap to our Dutch neighbors and earning well-deserved praise abroad. Rick lets the music speak for itself, influenced by the likes of Christian AB, Noizar, and Sugar Free. Like any great baker, delivering the freshest goodies around is what he does best.

For his Hotbox mix, Rick strips away the obvious and digs deeper into his sonic palette. The mix begins slowly, simmering with subtle layers, before building into a cascade of zingers. No stranger to keeping things raw and authentic, you already know this mix is a wild ride from start to finish, packed with unexpected twists and turns. HOT SERIES 026 - Rick Baguette

I stumbled across nascent Polish label @Astropical Tapes' debut release from @astrobulhoone in legendary Parisian record shop Techno Import (n.b. a case of strong artwork hooking the browser in). The marvelous 'Forever EP' made for an excellent first outing for this new imprint, and I was pleased to hear that follow up 'Spa House' from label boss @marcinkrupa was another solid affair.

This track is named after Krupa's home city Konstancin-Jeziorna, and is remixed her by former Studio Barnhus releasee @Naphta_. Woozy, jazzy stuff splattered with live drum broken beats, it makes for a wonkier take on the sublime original.

Premiere: Marcin Krupa - Jeziorna (Naphta Remix) [Astropical Tapes]

Astropical Tapes is one of the latest labels to emerge from Poland’s fruitful electronic music scene. Following on from Astro Buhloone’s ‘Forever’ EP, Marcin Krupa has been invited to put together the label’s second release. Krupa’s ‘Spa House’ EP consists of two original tracks, ‘Spa House’ and ‘Jeziorna’, alongside two remixes of ‘Jeziorna’ from Naphta and Universo, the latter of which we premiere today.

Krupa’s original ‘Jeziorna’ is a piece of soulful deep house in the mould of MCDE or Andres; Universo’s remix turns it into something slightly tougher, building around a gloriously distorted kick drum. Effervescent lo-fi pads and delicate strings begin to combine with Krupa’s vocal sample before a weighty acid line starts to rumble underneath to turn the second half into a serious dancefloor weapon.

The white tiles glimmered on the walls of the spa, the marble tables lined the room as drops of water ran from trickling taps, steam billowed down the halls and the scent of lavender kissed the air. Across the room a woman lay sprawled across a sunlounger by the pool: she sipped from a long glass some fragrant cocktail of luscious fruits and red mist. She winked and called me over...

Astropical Tapes is a new found Polish imprint who have been receiving support from the likes of Axel Boman, Jimpster and Detroit Swindle. This one is taken from the latest EP from Marcin Krupa and dabbles in soothing melodic house and disco excursions. Titled "Spa House" it is named after Konstantin Jeziorna, a historically famous spa resort on the outer reaches of Warsaw.

Boutique Polish vinyl imprint Astropical Tapes returns for a second outing following the widespread acclaim of Astro Buhloone's inaugural effort Forever with an EP from label boss, Marcin Krupa.
Spa House is named after Krupa's hometown Konstancin-Jeziorna, which is a historic spa resort on the outer reaches of Warsaw's administrative area. The EP is a fittingly soothing affair, from the resplendent strings and vocal harmonies that adorn the rolling title track to the loose, early morning mellowness of Jeziorna. Remixes of the latter come from Universo, who opts for a distorted, acid-licked melodic version, and Studio Barnhus signing Naphta, who chops up a broken beat and woozy chords to discordant effect.
