This piece was installed in a tree by the Humboldt Park Field House on September 23rd, 2017 as part of the group exhibition 'GROWTH,' which featured the Inferno Mobile Recording Studio summer artists in residence. Ed Bornstein, Emme WIlliams, Rob Frye, and Ben Lamar Gay were sent out into the park district to engage and record with the constituents of the parks.  Rob's workshop often featured listening/processing exercises to sounds of nature, homemade instruments, group loop building.

Running in the Rain

“Sounds for Thalweg Flag” is a sound piece made for "Thalweg Flag" by Lisa Alvarado in Ballroom Marfa's current exhibition, 'unFlagging.'

This piece was created by Natural Information Society, an ensemble founded by Joshua Abrams that features Alvarado on harmonium. The sound work, which includes newly composed, improvised and found sound, builds from components of “Thalweg Sounds,” a composition developed for Alvarado’s solo exhibition Thalweg at the Bridget Donahue Gallery in Summer 2020. With “Sounds for Thalweg Flag” Alvarado considers a liminal space, a fluid pathway of shifting water and sediment where layers of memory continuously mix and reconfigure.
