West Coast mainstays @dannygoliger and @justin-jay bring a slamming, club-ready collaborative release to Scuffed Recordings on the ‘Sticky Rice’ EP.

Danny and Justin have been releasing music together since 2020, when the two teamed up for a track on their own Fantastic Voyage imprint. Since then, the Los Angeles based artists have collaborated on tracks on Dirtybird and Childsplay, marking them out as a team to be reckoned with.

Alongside their collabs, Danny has appeared as a solo artist on labels like clip.art, art|werk and Moving Castle, while Justin has had a storied career appearing on labels as varied as Time Is Now, Suara, and Pets Recordings along with being a longtime member of the Dirtybird camp.

Now the two join forces on Scuffed Recordings, with a release including two collabs and a solo track from each artist.

From the outset, the duo wears their UK influences on their sleeves, taking in breakbeat grooves, rolling bass, and upfront percussion. Over the course of the two collabs and two solo tracks, Danny and Justin gleefully tear through an array of genres and influences – whether that’s electro, techno, UK garage, breaks, or IDM, they bounce off each other effortlessly to form a concise and impactful club EP.

Shawn Cartier & Dufraine present: Pleasure Corp’ - marking the anticipated transition to a live duo through the release of a 3 track EP with a debut live show scheduled for 25th March at The Yard. The synergetic pair have performed together consistently bolstered by a string of releases through Childsplay and International Chrome.

The EP, including lead track ‘Back From Reality’, contains a full circle exploration through the soundscapes of machine-driven electro and main room house euphoria. Across this release you can expect sonics splattered with classic 90s-inspired acid and electro bass and melodics; colorful and eerie arpeggiations; topped by emotionally charged vocal narratives tying the knots to an endearing yet quirky atmosphere.

In making this track I accidentally deleted the original file. However, I'm pretty pleased with this version which I've been sat on for a while. So here's a free release of a tune that would otherwise just be sat on my computer.

The track samples the iconic footballer, TV host and musician Dion Dublin demonstrating his Dube drum.

"I guess this EP is like a soundtrack to my life in the last year or so, tapping into different emotions and moods. Music making for me is about processing life and translating experiences into sound.

I made “Vroom Vroom” after a trip to Guatemala where I made a bunch of field recordings and collaged them together in this track. Some of my closest friends and fam and I spent ages in front of a Maya pyramid in Tikal, clapping and listening to the weirdest echoes bounce back and that’s what you can hear in the track. It was also insanely humid and hot in that jungle, an oppressive atmosphere i’m reminded of in “Vroom Vroom”.
“Revelation” is an interlude embracing the randomness and chaos going on in my neurodiverse brain. I approached making this one like a making a paper collage.
“Mamie” was made in grief.
The flip side to “Mamie” definitely is “Boss Bish” which channels the energy I’ve been manifesting lately. The boss bish energy is about being chill af, unbothered, collected and strong, going about life from a place of power, while fighting the patriarchy like a boss.
