Alina Kalancea is a sonic alchemist who can warp and weave electronic
signals into complex tapestries of synthesized analog timbre. These
transportive environments were recorded using the artist's personal
collection of historic Buchla electronic music instruments including
Allen Strange's expanded Music Easel.
Letters Never Sent, Alina Kalancea's second full length for Imprec
follows 2021's double LP titled Impedance and is being released at the
same time as a new cassette titled Alchemy.
Kalancea's music has the ability to evoke both emotion and image;
feeling and landscape; passion and place. She described recording
Letters Never Sent as being like collecting images that are born in
your mind. Shades of sound, tone, color and feeling shape the
experience of listening to Kalancea's work.
Kalancea's work is made of malleable sonic material that never looks
or sounds the same way twice. Part of the magic of the music, and her
work is similar to ELEH in this way, is that her work leaves room for
the conscious and unconscious emotions of the listener. How you react
is partially a result of how you feel at the time.
Alchemy, Alina Kalancea's subsequent cassette being released
simultaneously, is a limited edition appendix to the album Letters
Never Sent.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Unhuman. "Cerberus" comes off the new Split release with New Frames, forthcoming on Pi Electronics. The tenth year of the π project revives the label’s Split Series with its third instalment, Split#3 by Unhuman & New Frames.

This is the second appearance on the label's Various Artists catalog for both Berlin-based acts, featuring individual and collaborative tracks from the artists. Infamous for their industrial/EBM-leaning techno signature sound, Unhuman (Manos Simotas) and New Frames (Mathis Mootz/The Panacea/Squaremeter and David Frisch) join forces to elevate their production style even further. 

Dancefloor killers for heads of diverse tastes, featuring one solo track from each artist per side, along with three complementary collaborative compositions. Today we premiere this great Unhuman solo work.

As 2024 draws to a close, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us on the Hours London journey this year. It has been a transformational time, filled with original sounds, new ways of interacting with spaces and music, deepening friendships, and many lessons along the way.

To show our appreciation to our closest members, we hosted a secret gathering earlier this month, soundtracked by some of our talented friends: Gently, Trixie, Alia Indigo & sEmoa. Together, they came up with a beautiful musical story, defiant of genre and based on artistic expression.

We're excited to share a special moment from this event with you - a recording of Alia Indigo & sEmoa's collaborative set, featuring predominantly their own unreleased productions.

We hope this mix brings you the same excitement it brought us, and we can't wait to share more moments like this, together in 2025.

Focus Puller’s relationship with music started  aged 6, when he was given a Dansette record player and a pile of old 7's by his Dad's mate. Stacking those records on the player and announcing them to an imaginary radio audience as they dropped one by one onto the platter had a mesmerising effect. Those early days unlocked a lifelong love affair with music, and paved the way to developing a style that is diverse but fluid. His 2005 mix 'Masical Mugic' brought together hip hop, drum and bass, breaks, techno and house as a seamless whole, claiming second place in the IDJ magazine mix competition and the reward of playing at Turnmills. Most recently, through his long association with the respected Cubism label, Mike has played at Fabric numerous times, which remains his favourite club to this day. 

His own compositions have found their way into the record boxes of some of the world's most admired artists including Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, John Digweed and Ben Watt, while 'Pressure Cooker', his 2007 Collaboration with Dave Robertson (Reset Robot), featured in Nic Fanciulli's Radio 1 Essential Mix. Described by DJ Mag as an original and daring artist, Mike continues to release innovative, intriguing music that aims to nourish the soul as well as the feet.
