George Fotiadis is a multifaceted creative music producer under the alias Basement Freaks. Born in Greece, Fotiadis has established himself as a versatile artist with a rich portfolio spanning audio storytelling and funk-infused electronic music.

Under the Basement Freaks pseudonym, George Fotiadis has carved out a notable presence in the music world, particularly within the funk, soul, and breakbeat genres. He is recognized as a producer whose work pays homage to the golden age of funk, merging the 1970s and 1980s vibes with a modern twist. 

He also contributes to the music production community by releasing live-recorded sample packs through Black Octopus Sound, enhancing his influence among producers and DJs.

Fotiadis’s approach to music is marked by creativity and a refusal to adhere strictly to convention.

Bercé depuis sa plus tendre enfance par les hits de la Tamla Motown ainsi que par les classiques de la funk et du disco , Master Pi se dirigea naturellement a la fin des annees 80  vers la scene electronique . A travers un parcours de tefeur il sera amene a cotoyer divers artistes emergeant tel que Laurent Garnier , DJ Deep , Carl Cox. Fort de cette experience,il cree  a la fin des annees 90 le label Shokintrax en collaboration avec Sho.r. De cette association naitra 3 maxi distribue un peu partout dans le monde. Apres avoir teste a peu pres tous les styles electroniques ( de l'acide music au hardcore en passant par la trance psychedelique ) il revient donc vers ses premiers emois musicaux en mixant une house groovy energique souvent tournée vers les remixs astucieux des classiques de la funk.Il propose donc des performances dans l'unique but de faire partager ses gouts musicaux et de generer des fetes et des sentiments positifs.

Myself & Jimmy J co-founded the Remix Records record shop in Camden opening on the 4th of January 1994. In 1993 the music had splintered into Jungle & Happy Hardcore. Most of the record shops in London were stocking a lot more Jungle than HH, Each shop would only carry a few HH tunes each so you’d have to visit all the shops to buy all the release's of that week which was fun but very time consuming. It was therefore apparent that London was crying out for a dedicated Happy Hardcore shop & thus Remix Records was born. It was pretty much an instant success.. Later that year Jimmy started the Remix Record record Label with Cru-L-T and together with its big brother Kniteforce Records they defined the sound of a generation. At this time I was playing @ free parties & anywhere that would have me! Diehard Leicester were the first club to give me a break closely followed by my spiritual home Labrynth ... By 1997 I was playing regularly for events such as Slammin Vinyl, Unired Dance, Hardcore Heaven, Destiny, GBH, Dizstruxshon, Illusion, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter & many more.. It was long before I started to get bookings from around the world coming in including Germany, Canada, Poland, Singapore & many hazie visits to Ibiza... All of the above was all about Hardcore & Happy hardcore as the music evolved.. From 1999 I also started to play & produce Hard House as The Trixta with a weekly residency for Substance which was a room for Freedom @ Bagleys which ran for 2 years. In 2003 I decided to stop playing hardcore as the music which I truly loved had evolved into music so far from what it was when I began I felt it was time to move aside and give the opportunity to other that had a passion for it... During lockdown down I've been listening to alot of the old tunes that I love and decided to get myself back out there playing all things Breakbeat Hardcore.. Ive been back in studio & had a record signed by Return of the Vibe Records & been playing up and down the UK with a new residency for Strawberry Sundae .. sesyou on dance floor soon! Peace.
