Betty Blue part 1 - the Snare

This is the story of Betty Blue…a young girl full of talent that was lured to Hollywood with promises of fame, fortune, anything and everything her heart desired. She wanted that SO bad..she would give anything for it…and "give anything" she did…

This song started out, as most of our songs do, as a guitar riff that Gary sent to me. It was such a beautiful acoustic piece…I was excited to hear where he would take it!  I am always blown away by the layers and layers of awesome stuff Gary puts into our music…he hears the coolest things in his head as he's looping our "work in progress" and he does an amazing job at "realizing these sounds/melodies".  He created such a rockin musical template for us to sing upon!! Once again, he found all of the vocal melodies for us…we went back and forth with the lyric writing and the vocals…kind of feeding off of each other as we went. I always love singing with Gary…his enthusiasm is infectious…and he just plain ROCKS!  He also asked me if I wanted to try to add some piano to our tune…so, I listened to his opening electric guitar part and came up with a counter melody that, then, became the piano sections you will hear at the end. All of the music we do is "cyclical"…we go back and forth and forth and back…so much fun we have.  I can't say enough about not only Gary's musical abilities but his production abilities as well…he really does a great job and I'm so very grateful to him for all that he does!  And I'm EXTRA grateful that he finds the time to go back and add even MORE guitars…because, to me, there is no such thing as too many guitars..and I love every line he puts in there :)

Gary came up with the original lyrical idea from a conversation we were having about those that wish for fortune and fame and what price they, ultimately, pay for it. As this song progressed…it seemed that there was much more of a story to tell than one song could hold…so, this is part 1…and the beginning of Betty Blue's story...
