Born in Pennsylvania, raised in Cameroon West Africa, Fokwa was exposed to the natural settings of raw music. Growing up he enjoyed participating in the traditional festivities that took place in the village which included an extensive playing of bongos and different handmade instruments. This influenced Fo's rhythmic expression as he relates his experiences from across the Atlantic.
