Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: BitterCaress

For several years now, BitterCaress has been pursuing her own musical path. Coming from a classical music background and after studying the piano at the conservatory for several years in Paris, she discovered techno in Montreal when she moved there in 2014.

Professional raver and techno events organizer for a while, she had the chance to broaden her musical culture before going behind the decks at the end of 2018.

Her sharp selection reveals a marked taste for heavy bass and uncompromising beats. Her style is best described as ravy and highly energetic as she draws her inspiration from old school techno, mixing ravy and trancy atmospheres with raw and industrial energies. The artist gets highly creative behind the decks with her openness to other genres and her appetite for risks when comes the time to play unexpected guilty pleasures. BitterCaress definitely knows how to make people dance and will slay any dancefloors.

Her journey has just started but she is already well-established in the Montreal local scene with several gigs under her belt notably at Stereo Nightclub or at Piknic Electronik and her residency at one of the scene’s most hyped collective, OCTOV. Playing alongside Jacidorex or Nur Jaber, among talented others, has definitely put her on the techno map. At the end of 2021, she has also begun to make some waves internationally with several podcasts for many renowned SoundCloud channels such as Possession, The Brvtalist or Instruments of Discipline.

BitterCaress also curates the Mixing for a Cause podcast series where she gives the floor to some local and international artists to raise awareness about causes that are meaningful to them.

In the same spirit, since the end of 2020, she is now managing her brand-new solo project called MFC Records. A label established as a way to support newcomers, fresh talents and already established artists from all over the world who would like to support a cause. All proceeds from the releases are going to carefully chosen non-for-profit organizations.

Through this series and that label, she hopes to build awareness and a better future world.

Fast Forward Audio Series #74: BitterCaress

Cintia Martís, una dj gallega procedente de Ribeira ( La Coruña ). Su recorrido musical comienza en la adolescencia como clubber  y con 24 años se mete de lleno en la escena de su comunidad como dj, recorriendo gran parte de localidades y promotoras de fiestas de música electrónica. Hoy, con 29 años puedes encontrar sus sets tanto en formato digital como en 12" , e incluyendo numerosas veces los dos formatos juntos.

Ha llegado a pinchar hasta Berlín y Birminghan y en varias ocasiones también en Portugal en clubs como el emblemático Gare Porto, lugares arraigados por la cultura techno .

En la escena nacional no obstante de su comunidad (Galicia) , también ha estado en Bilbao , León y Madrid, donde a día de hoy y desde el año 2023 tiene residencia con el colectivo y sello Phase Ctv.

Musicalmente se define como contundente e instrospectiva , buscando la linea y la coherencia dentro de sus sets e inundandolos de sonidos oscuros y bizarros, donde reconoce incluso aveces buscar con sus mezclas llegar a bucles repetitivos pero a la vez dinámicos .

En esta ocasión, Cintia nos regala este podcast de un toque más personal en la música electrónica , dejando totalmente de lado su sonido y su zona de confort , entrando en un contexto más intimo del que suele disfrutar mezclando pero que no lleva a las pistas y esta es la ocasión idónea para poder mostrarnos su otra cara y sus otros gustos , con una selección de break beats y electro con muchas melodías y sonidos mas melancolicos e instrospectivos .

Deadbeat | Live at Berghain Berlin 1st Aug 2015

For the 167th edition of Global Vibe Radio we present the Live recording of Z.I.P.P.O's set from Goodnight Daylight in Minneapolis, in celebration of 15 Years of Dustin Zahn's Enemy Records. The lineup for the night included Lucy, Truncate, Dustin Zahn, Nastia Reigel and Centrific.

Despite his young age, Z.I.P.P.O's professional career began early: at the age of 15 his name begins to be present throughout various Apulians clubs, while at 17 years-old his first album "Symmetrical Therapy" comes out on Figure followed by great collaborations with the labels Involve Records, Suburban Avenue and Enemy.

To date, Z.I.P.P.O has already conquered some of the most sought-after venues in Europe such as Berghain (the youngest Italian to have played there, ever) and Tresor in 2016 and, more recently, that of Boiler Room at Viva Festival where he introduced a set that differs from his "usual" sounds, accompanying the dancefloor through house, disco and funk sounds.

Together with his solo EPs and collaborations, Fides was also very significant for the creation of the 3KZ project founded with his friend Kaelan, and inspired by a retro-futuristic sound similar to Detroit techno.

The mild character, the passion for music and the constant and a changeless desire to learn have earned Z.I.P.P.O. the respect and admiration of music fans and his peers, making him one of the most promising talents in the techno scene on an international level.

Despite there being just four years between her arrival onto the scene and the present day, McKenzie Simone has explored a broad groundwork of music and locations before discovering that her true home lay nestled deep within Eurasia. Kickstarting her career in Dubai, the 25-year-old American native has since settled into her current home of Tbilisi, Georgia, her attachment to the underground circuit earning her both a familial reputation and regular bookings across the city in venues such as Khidi and Drama. Her appreciation for a culture that finally celebrated and encouraged individuality and free expression was the motive for her permanent move there following a short visit prior, and in July 2019, McKenzie risked everything she knew by choosing to call this new place home. Her gamble was rewarded and she is now a true rising star of the city, subscribing to a fresh approach on techno within the tangle of bustling clubs that scatter the streets at night. 

For this next instalment of DETECT, we were lucky enough to present a love-letter to the scene from McKenzie in the form of an exclusive mix that she recorded from home for us. Acidic, wild and full of focused determination, this hour-and-fifteen of selections is a punchy statement on the confident direction that McKenzie has with her career, and a declaration of the devotion she has for the city of Tbilisi.
