Produced during Germany’s  second lockdown the message couldn’t be more clear: 
"Open The Doors" is more than actual after this Covid related period of closed clubs, cancelled festivals and total lack of social life. 
"Open the doors, throw me a party, give me a beat, drop the bass!"

_asstnt sound comes from the heart of a passionate artist conveying romanticism, truth and dedication within his music and philosophy. The DJ and producer from Madrid breaks into the underground scene with an industrial, dirty and melancholic sound that stems from his love for hardstyle or hardcore that was instilled in him from an early age. In 2017 his first track was released on an Involve Records compilation together with the artist Roll Dann before starting the Opera 200 label together in 2020 whose inaugural release saw the light of day in February 2020 and picked up support from the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Matrixxman, Truncate, Fernanda Martins and many more.

‘Heartless’ begins proceedings with intense, piercing modulations, industrial kicks and robust sonics in this haunting opening cut before ‘Teenage Romance’ offers up entrancing leads underneath blistering soundscapes and acid-soaked, rave inspired synth flutters. On the flip, shrieking oscillations, industrial atmospheres, frightening samples and soul-stirring moods take the focus in ‘Smells Like Darkroom’ whilst Broken Ties’ rounds things off with a 90s trance feel featuring psychedelic, revolving bass notes and fast paced grooves that continue to pulsate throughout the effervescent finisher.

DARKNESS CALLING

The fourth episode of DJ Nastia’s music journey alongside Ballantine’s for Scary Beautiful takes us to the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. Much can be said about the wilderness, grandeur and beauty of the Carpathians. The arc-shaped mountains stretch around 1,500 km through Central and Eastern Europe, and take up an area of 190,000 square kilometers, finding their home in countries like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine. The Ukrainian Carpathians are mild peaks that reach as high as 2061m (mount Hoverla) and the extraordinary mountain scenery is the effect of past glaciation. The name itself is correlated with old Dacian tribes named “Carpes” or “Carpi” who lived in the large surrounding area which in the present day covers Romania and Moldova. The Carpathian Mountains captivate with their immaculate wilderness. The trees are coated by thick layers of moss and mushrooms sprout from fantastically odd tree stumps. Yet like with most things, not all is as flawless as it seems. Over the last 15 years, 800,000 hectares of forest have been cut down. Foresters say that this is allowed strictly with permits and the number of affected areas do not exceed those allowed in European countries, yet, unfortunately, illegal loggers find ways to prosper. Ecological experts say that unsupervised deforestation will increase the severity of floods and droughts.

Beirut-based record label System Revival is back with yet another superb charity compilation. After two widely successful compilations that label released in 2020 whose funds went towards the victims of the explosion in Beirut, funds from this year's compilation called 'Zero Hunger' will go towards World Food Program.

Some of the artists that contributed their work for 'Zero Hunger' compilation are Albert van Abbe, Blazej Malinowski, Charles Green, Einox, Kessel, Mary Yuzovskaya, Miller & Bosscher, Montero & Raul Alvarez, Opuswerk, Tapefeed, Temudo, VSK, Zemög, etc...

Our premiere for today is a beautiful drone ambient called 'Immerse' by Berlin-based Blazej Malinowski. Blazej's 'less is more' approach creates peaceful oscillations that come to rest on the ears like a comforting blanket. Its dark ambient tones are paired with drone undercurrents for a pleasant journey into which the listener can drift freely and get lost into the depths of a calm midnight ocean.
