And please take it easy that I write less to him and I left a few more personal words about the Seasidetrip - as my beloved grandpa was telling me: »you know, little roland(son) to sailing is dead but the sailor has it done. cause a sailor has to what a sailor has to do. cause it has to do with passion and if you have passion you are the richest person of the world. It’s a hard job, but the moments on the deck when the wind blows in your face, when you hear the waves and you see the vastness of the sea, these moments will give you more than all the money in the world.« and so I devote a great part of my being and doing, my beloved grandparents. 

It started with a mix about emotions & music by the sea and that's the point till today. at the beginning captain https://soundcloud.com/rolandson did not think it would be 100mixes. this all (the mix-series, the netlabel - releases and showcases) is a result of a momentary feeling in 2012. music and to be at the ocean, It helped me through a hard time and I decided spontaneously to make it audible. in first case for me at second for friends. and yeah, some good friends liked the idea, became part of it, created their version and helped to understand some things.
And so, the Seasidetrip - Mixseries emerged and grew up and grew and brought me together with many lovely human beings. I am VERY THANKFUL for every journey, every listener and follower, for every comment and interaction … and I am grateful for everything that has come out of it - on negative or in a positive way - everything is part of that trip.

Yes, I think; for many of you, the Seasidetrip is about music and to bring wonderful sounds to your ears and into your hearts. and it’s good that it is what it is. but please, think by that: it’s not about: how many plays & likes each mix generates - it’s about: which story each mix tells - it’s all about the passion and not about a hype or a hip music direction. And in that, for me it is still a very personal project and journey - and that’s why it is so important to me, to knew each artist on deck and to stay in touch as much as i can. and if you agree with, you are highly WELCOME …

Da lässt du mal die Nummer 100 vom Stapel und schon überschlagen sich die Ereignisse. Käpt’n https://soundcloud.com/rolandson ist ein Gin-gestandener Seebär, doch die tagelange Sause auf dem Oberdeck hat selbst ihn dann in die Koje verwiesen und nur zum Luft schnuppern kurz raus gelassen. Während da also die hundertste Ausgabe unserer kleinen feinen Reihe die 7 Weltmeere kreuzt, flattern Huldigungen, Einladungen, Danksagungen und allerlei bunt zirpendes Musikgedöhns durch die Luke. Gut das wir uns schon letztes Jahr den liebenswerten https://soundcloud.com/garstique an Bord holten, denn er weiß, wie man eine torkelnde Crew vorm Absaufen bewahrt. So lässt er uns alle mit seiner langsamen Version von langsam, schnurstracks über die Planken schlaumeln - verschiebt das Raum Zeit Kontinuum und dreht mal eben alles von vorn nach hinten und mittendrin nochmal um 180 Grad. Alles klar? Ja, Nee - bei uns auch nicht. So versuchen wir uns seit Tagen mit seinem Mix auszukatern und freuen uns wie nach einer geglückten Kaperfahrt auf den April und den blauen Kater im Acidbogen. Doch Hier & Jetzt erstmal langsame Impulsionisationskammer - Musik, Aye.

E2E: What environment or context did you have in mind when recording the mix? 

Greville (@grevillegreville): My favourite place in the world is a little surf town in the south of France called Hossegor that I’ve been going to since I was little. You take the bullet train down from Paris and can’t help but zone into the powerlines whizzing by with a dreamy backdrop of endless sunflower fields and forests.  The power lines start doing a kind of wavey motion which is quite musical. Every time I’m on that train it is very emotive like I’m returning home from a long time away… that feeling and the view goes quite nicely with some music, so this is supposed to be some music for that.

E2E: Upcoming projects you're working on? any new releases on Mad Habitat?

Greville: I have my next release under Greville coming out in January which is an attempt at club music but I’m not very good at making club music so it’s not that clubby. I also have an album from a good friend coming as the fourth release which I am very happy to be involved in. I am also still working on some exciting Rimbombo parties with my special friends Adi and Nik here in Sydney.

His intricate productions on labels like Antinote, Second Circle and the always impeccable 12th Isle build a bridge between his Vietnamese heritage and modern electronic music. For 5918mins., D delivers a mix of Ambient, Acoustic/Folk and Spoken Word which seems a perfect fit for a rainy November lockdown.

In such strange and unpredictable times (soz) it's always so nice to have something you can actually be sure of. This is one of those things; an illustrious composition of beautifully arranged soundscapes from the incredibly talented mind of Gallery B aka Emma Stevenson. As the sun will rise, Emma will deliver. #52 hits 4 hours of absolute serendipitous bliss, from one of the best. I'll back Emma until the end of time, (I’m hopeful that she will DJ at my funeral). I’ve been a huge fan of hers since I saw her play at Cool Room (big nod) many years ago. In the time since, she has taken some giant steps forward, and Melbourne now knows her as its own. Emma began concentrating on her own production of dreamy ambient audible artworks after donning the Gallery B moniker, she already has a few releases under her belt, and plenty in the works. I for one will be paying close attention to what comes next. 

What Emma has always been good at is telling stories through sound because she’s perfected the art of the ‘build’; her art is meticulously constructed piece by piece into a narrative that transports you on a luxury flight, table service, and temple rubs included. The listener reaches new heights, soaring between thermals, dipping and diving in all directions, as one begins to appreciate the depth of knowledge and respect that Emma has for music and the emotions it can provoke. There is something special about every song selected, and the enjoyment of each is immersive. Completely un-rushed and beautifully patient, the selections progress almost naturally, starting at left field experimental, and slowly traversing through ambient pop, industrial folk, digital dub, couch gaze, 16bit R’n’B, it's all there, perfectly wrapped up into one the best resume’s I’ve heard to date. It's a peaceful journey that’s already bought me so much joy in these crazy times (soz). Perfect for a spring afternoon in the backyard under the shade of your favourite tree. Now open your ears and let this ground you. It will serve you well many times over in the future.

Celebrating the 25th mix with a special 2 hours long "ambient / electronica journey" from the man that has been running Neroli since over 20 years. Welcome Volcov (@neroli). Interview (excerpt) down below.

MFM: Ciao Enrico, congratulations with your 50th release, such a milestone and with a beautiful compilation too that is. 20 years deep in running Neroli, how do you look back to it now? 

V: Thank you! In 2000 I started Neroli on my own and since then that has been my baby. Apart from the music itself, I think a great relationship with your distributor is essential to make things work, and I’ve been lucky during all these years [mostly Goya, RH and Syncrophone along the way and now Mother Tongue]. I always liked the role of ‘curator’ and I was always fascinated by certain collectable labels like ART/OPart, Retroactive, B12 so to start mine was the next step.. There were a lot of different moments and phases but I think the main thing is that is essential to stay true to your own story! I have to say that the making of The First Circle was a real pleasure and, although it might have been unexpected by some people, for the ones who know me well it really describes my musical journey.

MFM: While Neroli mainly focuses on the deeper and soulful side of electronic music, you were a drum 'n bass head before that, right?

V: Not really, I was always a so called ‘house head’ since I started buying Trax, Alleviated, Lil Louis, Nu Groove and so on in the late 80s/early 90s. Across the 90s, like many, I got also interested in other styles and sounds as long as they were exciting wether it was Mo Wax, Plaid, Reinforced or Photek. The thing with drum n bass was that I did my first productions in that style and I got booked to play dnb gigs on the back of that in ‘97/98. But in ’99 I started an Archive night at this amazing squat club called Pergola and that was an eclectic affair with guests like Dego, Phil Asher, Ian O’Brien, etc.

MFM: The catalogue looks very much like a close family of artists, lots of them having a long history in music and with only a few newer faces. How come is that?

V: The catalogue is a mix of releases by some longtime friends like Dego [who always had an essential role on Neroli], Just One/Kemetic Just or Alex Attias as well as some artists we met along the way and ended up releasing several records with us [Trinidadian Deep, Ricardo Miranda, Lee Pearson jr for example] or younger producer whom I really believed in like Skymark, Marcello Napoletano, Deenamic. I think its especially the continuity along the years with certain artists that can be a bit unusual compared to other labels. We have just released now the Theo Parrish reinterpretations of Patrick Gibin/Kaidi Tatham/Josh Milan ‘Love to the World’ but in April we’ll have an EP by another artist never been on the label before.

MFM: You're quite at ease with doing mixes, without a crowd, right? Is there a certain way to how you approach recording?

V: Well, as much I am at ease recording these type of mixes at home as much I find almost impossible to do some with dance material. Most of my ‘dance’ mixes online are live from clubs. Usually when I approach ambient/jazz/electronica radio shows and podcasts I have accumulated a little pile of records in a corner that I think should be included in the next one, stuff that comes to mind almost on a daily bases. So then I just need to go through them and try to make them ‘talk to each other’.

MFM: Your mixes tend to have a really strong story telling kinda vibe. This one's no exception. Did you have a specific narrative in mind?

V: Since MFM asked, and you guys just released the excellent ‘Virtual Dreams’ album, I imagined to somehow do an ambient / electronica selection since I had fond memories of those times, buying records at Fat Cat, playing chill out rooms in the 90s and so on…. I thought of certain songs that I wanted to include and tried to create a little journey with them…

Rob Glassett, better known as Fold is a London based music producer influenced by his teenage immersion in the cities pirate radio, raving and record collecting culture in the late 90's and early 2000’s.

Co-founder and A&R of East London’s forward leaning Well Street Records imprint he has released his own productions on labels such as Aus Music, Electric Minds, Shall Not Fade, ManMakeMusic and Well Street Records (under the Robert Fleck moniker) maintaining his position as a key player in the underground of UK nightlife for nearly 15 years. 

Aside from being a talented producer Rob is a prolific DJ having played at venues large and small across the globe, including prestigious venues such as London's iconic Drumsheds warehouse, Berghain / Panorama bar, Glastonbury Festival, Fabric, Warehouse project. In 2024 he supported Overmono on their UK tour before completing his own debut tours of Asia and most recently Australia in early 2025. 

Rob is a seasoned music head, obsessive record collector and previously a resident at London’s NTS Radio for over 10 years before joining Rinse FM in the Summer of 2024. His gold mine of archive mixes, not limited by genre or style, features a host of forward thinking UK artists and showcases a deep knowledge & understanding of the history of electronic music.

Specifically he is known for his extensive knowledge of UK sound system culture, 90’s - 00’s House music, UKG, Drum & Bass and eclectic back to back sets with long time friend Joy Orbison. After starting his musical journey at the tender age of 14 it can be said Rob is a ‘selector’ in the truest definition of the word and a genuine servant to the music he loves.

In 2024 Rob launched the label FLDIN2 to specifically showcase his own razor sharp dance floor focused productions. With the first three singles ‘Billa’, ‘Bottomless Brunch’ and ‘Lotion’ being widely acclaimed by heavy hitting artists such as Bicep, Overmono, Four Tet, Ben UFO, Bakey, George Fitzgerald plus club goers and bedroom DJ’s alike.

In 2025 Rob is lined up to play at Warehouse Project, Glastonbury Festival alongside Joy O + a debut at the infamous Open ground Club in Wuppertal Germany. As well as hugely anticipated releases scheduled for Dr Dubplates EC2A, Rinse FM's main label and the debut release on the new Rinse FM sub label Ingram
