This recording is Mom and Dad playing his signature song, The Swan from Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals.

They performed this song dozens or even hundreds of times in programs, recitals, and concerts.

The Swan

This is Mom and Dad playing Rachmaninoff's Vocalise, which happens to be a piece I'm recording in EWHO Opus at the moment.

This was originally recorded on a Tascam 244 using a stereo mixer and 2 stage mics, probably SM57s.  

In 1985, Mom and Dad were dual citizens of Minnesota and Texas, having a summer home on Rainy Lake and their winter home in Harlingen.  In August I drove up to visit from the Twin Cities and brought my recording stuff, such as it was, to the lake place.  

One evening I set up the mics and they recorded 4 pieces.  This is one I had never heard before and that's unusual because I  listen to classical music stations a lot.  I thought this was a marvelous piece immediately and I've toyed with recording it for years, even started to do it on violin with a piano track provided by my sister Carol.
