DARIUS - MIX For TSUGI

so, this is my essential mix. i want to say a few things about it!

before writing "worlds", i'd been feeling kinda pessimistic about the future of electronic music. so once i was done writing "worlds" over the course of 2~ish years, i just felt the need to find new stuff that i loved. i did a ton of soundcloud digging, basically, and most of the music in this mix was music i found that way. that's not to say that there aren't classics or songs i've known for a while here, but it's mostly new music.

then BBC radio 1 asked me to do an essential mix, and it seemed like the perfect way to showcase new stuff i was into.

i also feel like it's important to point out that this mix isn't what the worlds tour is going to sound like, really - that tour is going to be only my own music. all originals. (also it's going to be a blast and a visual journey and other stuff i can't talk about yet ehehe).

It comes from Cameo Culture, who we first became aware of back when he released a lush track called 'Night Swimming' via No.19 Music. Since then he's been working behind-the-scenes with Wolf + Lamb, putting his engineering skills to great use for the excellent label. He's also been hard at work on his own album project, Burning Bright, which is out now... in light of that, we thought we should have a chat with him about the LP as well as giving our Deep House London followers a great mix to listen to! Residing in the Netherlands, Jonathan Tan AKA Wantigga, has been making beats in his hometown Deventer since he was a boy. Growing up in a churchgoing household, he was raised with lots of gospel, soul and jazz music. As an autodidact, he taught himself to play several instruments, but his interest turned quickly to electronic music and hiphop.

''Felt like putting together a mix with feel good vibes only, designed to reminisce on those past summer days. Lot's of funky & soulful stuff by some of my favorite artists and producers I feel right now. It contains some forthcoming, unreleased music from myself as well.
