At the height of the Covid-19 lockdown, A-Trak had a musical epiphany. Stuck at home experimenting, he remembered he had a broken E-Mu SP1200 in storage that he’d been meaning to fix for over 10 years. The mythical drum machine with a gritty 12-bit sound was the weapon of choice for so many of the producers who shaped A-Trak’s ear: from Pete Rock to Madlib, from DJ Muggs to Kenny Dope, from Todd Terry to Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon. After a chance repair job, Trizzy taught himself how to use the rare SP, chopped up everything in sight and quickly churned out the rawest house beats he’s ever made. The result is a two-part EP of uptempo head-nodders, stripped down and named after the notoriously short sample time of his new toy. Best served dirty and loud.

Back in 2015 the bearded Dirtybird Player, Will Clarke, needed a secret weapon for some of his festival gigs for the Summer. He sampled the ghetto house legend, DJ Funk, who made an appearance on Dirtybird back in 2013 for the Kill Frenzy smash, “Make That Booty Clap”. Will passed it on to the rest of the Dirtybird crew, and before we knew it the track took a life of it’s own and quickly became one of the most requested tracks, even to this day. 

Will ended up linking with DJ Funk himself, and they turned what was a quick bootleg into a full blown collaboration and Ladies & Gentlemen, “Booty Percolatin’” is officially here and our Debut Transmission for today!
