This one was a remix challenge Fritter, Trance Mums & Shimmy and myself had on the way to Bali for a show. We all grabbed them stems to see who could write a remix on the flight over. This is what I came up with.

Chris Manik and Brennen Bryarly have been killing dancefloors for quite some time as MANIK and option4 respectively, releasing huge tracks on some of the most well-respected labels in the world while pushing sounds that run the gamut from sublime techno to funk-infused house. While both of the guys admittedly dislike collaborations, their new project 909 Til Infinity finds the two pairing up for a boundary-pushing, party-starting sound that combines elements of techno, house and fun into one big steaming mess of dancefloor madness.

What's up Desert Hearts Family,

So excited to share with you an EP from our boy from Berlin, Andreas Henneberg, as he drops first solo outing on the label. Andreas has been a staple at Desert Hearts, crushing the festival more than a few times over the years while also releasing an EP from his side project The Glitz. Along the way he's been an steady contributor to our Family & Friends Compilations so we knew it was time for a proper EP. 

The title track "Password Invalid" is a hip hop infused anthem that's been rocking our parties over the last year. Just as the lyrics say, "the swag is automatic" and this track drips in attitude. The B-side "Gettin Freaky" has Andreas' signature sound all over it. Powerful analog synths pave the way for the ultimate funk blast halfway through the track. Finally, to round out the package, the remix is a bomb put together by RYBO and yours truly.

Do yourself a favor and if you can, catch Andreas Henneberg at this year's Desert Hearts Festival. He's one of my favorite DJs and an even better person.

-How long have you been creating music?

Started learning in 2013 and started writing tracks in 2015.



-What do you use to make your tracks?

Abelton is my daw and I have a lot of hardware. Ensoniq SQ80, korg M1, Roland Alpha Juno 2, Roland tr8, all the electribes, dx7, Poly 800, tb03, sh01a, moog Minitaur, moog mother 32, Casio rz1, Quasimidi rave o lution, Rhodes, amongst others.



-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?

In Miami at treehouse, space, and some other clubs in 2013.



-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?

Big don Claude, Justin Martin



-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?

Big Lounge



-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

Dauwd, Homework, Martinez brothers -24hr



-If you could time travel, where and when would you go?

Probs vibe pretty hard in the 70’s but I’d have to say music-wise and lifestyle, Miami/La/Spain on some beach or rooftop in 2002 vibin’ to some soulful/classic house.



-What species of bird best describes you and why?

Probably a pelican because I’m from Florida and their big chill, always loungin’ with their pack, in the water or in the sun.



-What does Dirtybird mean to you?

Big bass lines and a good n time in a club or party/festival with friends has always been my experience.

In regards to the label in the music community I think Dirtybird has an important place these days. It does very well to welcome people into house and techno by mostly tech house. These may be people from the edm space or others and when they hear Dirtybird and the infectious leads, funky fx and rolling basslines, they can’t help but want more and go deeper into house and techno. Dirtybird is a household name and staple on the techno n tech house community and living in Miami, it’s hard to go to a club or party and not hear a Dirtybird track.
